I tried a week or more ago to put up a couple of my tunes for you to check out. Sorry for the screw up. maybe you can hear 1 now as im learning how to do these kinds of things for the first time. Im in bus for myself and have a good crew of guys working for me. I try to practice as much as i can, sometimes only once or twice a week. The guys i play with are a lot like me. 1 owns his own plumbing business,1 is a Dr. the rest are mostly just there sometimes. We play at a place called the art shack here in cola on the first and third fridays of the month since oct of 07 and have a lot of fun doing it. Last friday we had a great crowd of around 50-60 people and 5 of our regular members. I play mostly bass since 07 because most times we have at least 3 guitars, but i really like playing guitar and singing the originals my friends and I have been writing since about 1988. We just recently found THE drummer funny cause he dates my daugter and was under our noses all along for a while. I have enjoyed reading these forums and listening to your endeavors and I promise as im able to transfer my files to mp-3 ill put up a lot more. I would really like a couple of fresh guitar players to play lead on a great new song we put together a couple of weeks ago. From what I see theres a lot of good ones here.

No.1 thats a great song I really enjoyed listening to it. The mood really made me feel the lyrics are great the melodies are really good, the chord progressions are good. More please.
Make it so number one! sorry I just had to say that

Odd vocalization...doubling the same lyric & melody is rarely used. Think I'd prefer some harmonies in this. Could use a 12-string with the acoustic 6 string, too, instead of the two 6's. Kind of a throwback sound, & I like the tune. Yeah, you're right. It could use some 'lectrical lead work, & a good production would make this song a kick-butt tune. Nice one, for your 1st!

Yeah man , like the tune. With that kinda of time sig, there are alot of different motifs possible for bass and drums between 2/4 and 4/4, and the sycopated chorus having a straight bass line? OR 2/4 on drums , 4/4 on bass? and vice versa. Yeah, I hear kinda of a "stairway to heaven " lead gtr sound, or heavy compressed les paul sound for the turnarounds and break. Hard to say really without the bottom being there.
Hope to hear it soon as a band effort.
John

Phil,
Tilbrook & Difford did a lot of great double singing in their "Squeeze" days. Of course, Difford usually sang an octave below Tilbrook. Very effective.
Henry,
Good tune.

Yeah, they did, & it was a neat effect. Perhaps you could try that, #1?

Thanks for the comments. I realize that I know very little about things when someone else stands up and says something technical about what im doing. I dont like engineers too much because a lot of times their book learning makes my job hard , I only have 35 yrs experience , whats that. Ive been playing in different bands for over 30 years . We never made any money to speak of. Ill spend more on strings and things than we made in a weekend most of the time. I get paid by knowing im doing something i love to do it keeps me sane. I wrote the song i put up in 1975 at 15 yrs old. It was the first song of a lot of songs since then .Writing a song for us is easy at times we go thru spurts. I wanted to put that one up because it was the first and its done the same way now as then. That was done at a friends houseparty during a hellish t storm way back in 8 / 95 it was recorded straight off the 12 channel mixer we were using. I know the music isnt perfect .I wonder if it will ever be all I envision because that would mean the song was done or over in my book they all change a little over time.
Im looking to get the guys i play with now to get serious about what were doing. Doing thats been over a 5 yr job so far without much luck All I really want to do at this point is take about 10- 12 of my favorite original songs and do a pro quality album with a group of friends, not by myself. Im trying to get a song put up we wrote about our group back in 92 or so and a brand new song we just put together recently. if business stays slow it wont be long.
