My friend, a classic guitarist and gifted computer programmer showed me this website. Replaces the note letters with numbers. I found it quite interesting:

Check it out. All those messy note names replaced with easy to calculate numbers. 0 through 12 where each number represents a half tone.

Our base player and I argue over this damn cromatic scale.
But do you people understand the modes

Ionion
Phrydgian
Dorian
Mixolidian
Lydian
Lochrian

The secret is if you don't have perfect pitch it is kind of cynicle and intimidating to expect people to know what your secret is.
when I first saw this I thought I need my instrument to determine what the scale is and then I said oh well!

Ionian=c-major scale
triad = dual leads at the end of Hotel California
synchopateted= between the beat
1st 3rd and 5th= major chord
1st 3rd and flat 5th=minor chord

Actualy, flat 3rd makes minor... but thats kinda off topic...
Why would anyone want to count to 12 when you can count to 7 or 3?

I would say that in the western world you only need to know the major scale.
Then, what makes a chord
And then: I ii iii IV V vi viio
plus a little chord leading cheat chart.

Im sick as all get out right now, and burning up, so forgive the gibberish I guess

I'm afraid to try to mix any new theory with what I've been learning lately...

Damn scales and modes confuse me, but I'm getting closer to that "CLICK" when everything comes together and suddenly makes total sense.
