Anyone here on the forums active in the San Antonio music scene? I've gotten rather frustrated trying to find others to get a band going. Not sure if my music fits into the typical stuff you find here: Metal, Tejano and holy roller stuff hehe. Hoping someone can give me tips for networking here because I'm running out of ideas. I've got a couple of my songs here on my profile and more on different urls. I'd love to find a vocalist to help bring new life to some of my songs.

I listened to your songs; nice work!
I played in San Antonio back in 95. it was a pretty cool club. a coffe house/club in a huge warehouse. the owner owned the local fox tv station and was very cool! offered to showcase me on a weekly music show there on fox.. never happened though cause I quit the tour there, and life got in the way!
is there still a place like that around?

Nice work man. Very professionally done. You will find people with demos like that.
You should visit Cali someday. I am finding a lot of people in your genre networking here. None in mine. Go figure.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. I really appreciate it! I should probably be out in Cali if I want to go anywhere with this. I would say San Antonio probably isn't the best place for music hehe. I haven't found people with similar styles, which I'm not sure what mine exactly falls into to be quite frank. Here's a few more links for you guys to check out.

I kind of bounce all over the place with my style. I guess that's one of the beauties of music.

Just do what YOU like and believe in. Forget the genres and styles. There are only two genres really: Good Music and Crap. Yours is good music and you have potential.
Before you pack your bags and go to Cali, hop on Craigslist and get in tough with some people. You will have an idea of what's going on. If they do not send you any demos, do not bother.
Good luck.

Your tracks are well produced but lack edge and sound like soundtrack type tunes. I could easily hear them in a movie, etc. That said, you have a lot of talent and should put together a band ASAP. Don't be too picky about the tunes you do, just get some people that enjoy playing together first. Once you establish common ground with a set of covers hit them with the tracks and make it clear you want to do some original music. A lot of people don't want to work on your dream so include them in the process. Hit SXSW (I believe it's around 3/15) and do some networking. Only head for Cali when all your ducks are in a row. Rock on!

Screw the covers, if you've got more originals this good you need to get a STRONG vocalist and songwriter. As far as moving to California or any where else people think the grass is always greener some place else. IT ISN'T. I'll bet you can find qualified people right in San Antonio. I've visited there once and I don't think you're going to find too many places nicer to live in any way. Good luck. Get that STRONG supporting cast around you and WRITE AND RECORD ORIGINALS. You're off to a good start.

Thanks for all the advice. As for covers I don't have any intentions of doing the cover band thing. I write songs, not a lyricist or a strong singer. Any of the tracks I've done vocal work on it was just out of frustration for not having a vocalist to do it for me hehe.
I do plan on making a trip to SXSW this march. I lived in Austin for a while but never really took advantage of all it had to offer.
Again thanks for all the kind words everyone. Your advice is much appreciated!
