I like your demo stuff on your bandmix profile :)

Do you know of this band? (And are you able to tell what she is singing?):

Yes. This form the genre I am trying to do. Opera like singing over a progressive hard rock backing. Unfortunately it is a really bad mix and I can't distinguish words. I am sure on CD version of it it would sound awesome.

There are other bands like that in Russia. This one is not my favorite, but cool.

Here is an icon Kipelov of Russian rock stage. IMO unbelievable voice. Powerful and melodic.

Here is some Epidemia for you
(*edit* Check out what the singer does at 5.20)

(Good lyrics, but not in English) Notice how the melody line is driven by the vocals.

Here is a ballad from (Elfin Writings)

And the second track on my profile my (badly made) version of this:

I do change things to my liking for better of worse.

By far not the best lyrics of a Russian band (this is why it is not my favorite band)

This is a Pagan band, their style is paganism and the old pre-Christian history. The song from a thematic album, so you only see a fragment of the story before, in this case just before the epic battle.

The lyrics are in style of ancient Russian so translation is really ugly because I do not know ancient English. I'll do what I can without rhyming it and as close to the original words as I possibly can. Russian words have double meaning sometime, so I will mark those with quotes and put the meaning in ( ), Other words are omitted but implied. (Russian is a hard language to grasp)

---
The distance fills with sea of fire and drift of black smoke
The death spreads it's seeds.

The ancient words "excite" (awake)
"Snowy" (frozen) twilight of the "earth" (Land) and her (Land's) cry.

The heart will come alive and enlighten thoughts with ancient power.

Long night before battle - short life before fight
As a shadow of a flying bird morning brings immortality

By the Storm at sea by wind on the fields
In (these) immortal times I (cast a) spell
For the sun to shine
By the hand of righteous battle

By sound of the steel
By heat of the blood
I fiercely "call" (as in cast spell)
By sound of the steel
By heat of the blood
Fall in fight but remain "true" (to the cause).

I won't be free from the desperate "hopes" (dreams or hopeful dreams)
Under ice the austere steel hasn't cool.
We paid with blood mixed with fear
For the peace of those who fell

You are welcome.

I like your demo stuff on your bandmix profile

I like yours better.
I plaid along with it. You could use a second guitar to swap with on the first track. Imagine neoclassical counter parts, some riffs plaid in fifth sometime third sometime in unison. Diminished string skipping tapped arpeggios over it at 0:30-0:50. That sort of stuff. (IMO of cause) I like the time changes.

The "Letting go" tune is really nice. Vocal melody? Or was it meant to be 100% instrumental?

Sweet either way. I wish you the best.

Thanks. 'Letting Go' turned into a mood piece.
Another member here, 'sanshouheil', had some lyrics, and I tried to put music to the words. Or I should say, to the mood the the lyrics brought to me.
Im not a singer, so I just did guitar instrumental. I would like to make it longer, and put vocals to it at some point.

If you would like to play with the first one, I can make it able to download, and you can add pieces to it if you wish. This one I had all of the parts worked out, but TheKIDD did all of the drums, and took my general bass line and played bass to it. (I had the basic drums and bass line done through a keyboard)
TheKIDD helped me out much with that one. He even spend a lot of time mixing it.
We collaborate from time to time here.
:)

That Kipelov, I like a lot. Very nice voice, and I like the lead guitar player.

I had no idea that TheKIDD was involved. It was very nice of him.

Yes I would love to give it a shot and see if I can come up with something worthy I will send it back for your approval. (I will see if I can make ftp/ssh accounts on my website for uploading/downloading larger mp3 files)

Kipelov is our Ozzy. (Except he got better voice) He was a front man for band Aria (worth checking out) then he quit, took guitarist, and drummer with him and made his own band "Kipelov" Just like Ozzy when he was kicked out Sabbath made band Ozzy. Aria went on with a different line up.

Kipelov sings in English every once in a blue moon. But his managers only market him in Russia. Too bad. He could be world class singer if only they would open their eyes.

I am looking for English speaking Kipelov clone in California. (Futile task)

Wow, good stuff.
Kipelov sounds like Ronnie James Dio. Great voice.

Hey, you're in S.F.? I'm 45 minutes away from u. If you gig, let me know, I'd love to come out to support your band.

yes. thank you.

I am trying to figure out something vitriolic enough and get the tone configured to work with your tone. So far anything I have recorded over it does not sound good to me - I do not want to destroy the original flavor.

I will let you know (in private) when I have something I dare to share. I think I am going to drop to the same tuning before that happens.

Just curious, because for freebee bandmix accounts... weird things happen with messages sometimes.
Well, probably not weird things. It's probably all in the rules. But I cant be bothered to read rules. 8)

Oh, that.
No I had a network meltdown when I was posting. So this had nothing to do with bandmix. I do have a premium account though. Do you?
