I've joined a few forums recently that are supposed to be for fans of Metal music. But because I don't listen to Metal that's as heavy as they prefer, I've been insulted by a countless number of people because of the music I choose to listen to. If its not heavy enough to be up to their standards, they think they can insult me and MAKE me listen to what THEY think I should listen to.
Metalcore/Hardcore/Deathcore are all sub-genres of metal...But genres mean nothing. I don't judge a band by it's genre. To me, if I like it, I listen to it. I don't listen to it JUST cause it's labeled a certain way. I like all types of metal, from light to heavy. I have an open mind.
How does what I listen to affect your life? You'll never meet me...So why do you care?
All you close-minded douche-bags that sit here and try to tell other people what to listen to are, well, douche-bags. Each person has his own taste. I am not a scene kid...I am not an emo...I am not a gay faggot like you. I'm a person...A person who likes a certain style of music that you yourself may not like...but I don't try to make you listen to what I like.
I like hardcore. Get over it and go f*** yourself.
And to those people that say you don't listen to power metal because you're not manly enough; I don't need music to prove my manhood, I have a cock. Suck it.

I know, not here...Bandmix is cool like that. I'm just a little pissed off right now...
Seriously, go to Youtube and look at the comments for ANY metal/hardcore video...There's a 99.9% chance theres going to be a hundred people arguing about what genres they think YOU should listen to. It just pisses me off.

You'll see that a lot. And YouTube is full of trolls, so just chill, listen to your music and seek what inspires you.

All of that... Im more manly cuz I listen to the most extreme metal... pffft.
To them I say: Enjoy your audience of sweaty, fat, angry guys.
That setiment always turns me off too.
Noticed a trend towards that, locally.
I just tell them "I dont need to prove i have balls to you. Im not ashamed of what I choose to play, or what I choose to listen to. And I could write sh*t like you play all day long without even trying. I choose to do other things."
Some of it might be difficult to play from a dexterity standpoint, but thats about it. No songcraft involved.

Hardcore, Death Metal is angry music and angry people listen to it and like to spread their angry to anyone that will listen or interact. Its your choice whether you interact with these folks or not. Dont get your pantys in a wad over it, cause its no big deal. Most of em are some 12 yr olds sitting on their parents computors beating up on anyone that will listen.
My son listens to some of this stuff and it cracks me up. Cause the growling stuff sounds like the cookie monster. Its just kids playing Sesame Street music with distortion to me.
Ryan you dont have to interact with people is you dont want too. There are people on here who seem to only want to diss and blast other folks, if noone blasts back they tend to just go away.
You have choice in these matters, so use it. Positively

The purpose of your rant is what? For a Christian you sure use the word hate a lot, as well some other choice non-Christian words. As far as participating in chat rooms that you don't identify with - why do it? If you don't like the people there go somewhere else.

Okay, you just insulted all the music I listen to, lol. Not all heavy metal is angry...In fact, a majority of metal/hardcore I listen to has encouraging and spiritual lyrics. And cookie monster growls? That means the vocalist in that specific band needs screaming vocal lessons.

Hmmmmm
Ok here is my take. I think every Kid in America, no the WORLD wants to be him or her as regards grunge and hard core metal. I wondered why since it isn't that popular except in the recesses of our memories when it was everywhere, but not now.
If you listen to adverts and other stuff that has incidental music it's still out there, waving like a hand waiting to be shook.
Horror Movies love it, though I don't know why? Perhaps RAP would be, well, I dunno? I prefer a good suspense movie minus the music any day, it's what I am looking for I guess?
And so I am going to annoy you. No I don't listen to it regularly. I've played in bands that play it but never consider it my home. Great songs and technically brilliant artists playing at 10,000 miles an hour while being great just doesn't interest me in the slightest.
I'm one of those that don't, there are many that do yet many more that have moved on. I think that sad too because the music I like to listen to and play was derived from that which I don't listen to.
Make sense of that if you will...................

Hey jw123
You didn't and if my reply seemed course?
Many apologies. This was just something I'd noticed. It's everywhere except in the concert hall week in week out. I think that was my point so sorry for not explaining myself properly.
Nope and peace Dude.
Thanks.

Having been a teen in the 80's, my definition of metal is a far cry from what today's generation thinks metal is.
And even then we had genre's that insulted each other.
80's metal:
Heavy metal (Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica)
Shred metal (Yngwie, Vai)
Death metal (Slayer)
Glam metal (Bon Jovi, Poison)
Progressive metal (Queensryche)
...
And yeah, when I hear the guys growling and trying to sound like satan eating a buffet of dead animals, I kind of think "how juvenile.. lol"
Perhaps I'm old, I dunno, but today's metal seems to be lacking.
