Phish

I finally found a live Phish vid that doesn't have really sucky vocals!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfdcHOtAxhY

Of course, there are plenty of other mistakes in it. I used to cover that song with FMF, & I loved playing it, but man is it hard to pull off! Looks & sounds pretty easy, don't it? Try singing the high lead part & playing the bass line (the one I played was harder than this one - for that matter, so was the original on the CD.) We used to drag it out to about 4 minutes, cux every time we played it the dance floor was a solid mass of ppl.

Didn't care for the mix much, either - guitar's too hot, but it was prolly recorded on someone's cell phone or somesuch.

I played this one with Jeff at Dddonnie's b'day party - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvBvwrPEvo8

Another toughie. Fun to play though. Love the lyric - "Floyd is dead he's nothing but a ripple cuz Millie took that paper & sliced him on the nipple"

LMAO!

Okay - I'm onna roll. Always wanted to play this one note for note - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQo7Jj5pXwg

Played this one in Tribal Stew -

Love that happy sound!

Also played "Theme From the Bottom" but I couldn't find a vid for that.

Did this one solo -

Can hardly remember most of these now, but I recall loving playing this stuff when I did it.

Just thought I'd share.

They weren't exactly mainstream, either, sans.

Never realized I was such a Phish-head until I started looking at the vids today.

I always loved Anastasio's guitar work, though. It always sounds happy to me. Their lyrics usually left a lot to be desired.

When they came out, the Deaheads were all like - "It's the newest jam-band deadish thing!"

I saw an interview where Trey kinda put Jerry Garcia down, & I quite agree with him - Garcia was a jammish hack who couldn't play anything the same way twice, cuz he was such a buzz-head. He pissed a lot of Garcia lovebirds off with that attitude, but still ended up with the Dead's leftovers following them around & dancing like zombies & stuff.

'Twas the fans that broke that band up, with their adoration & weird "dancing for territory" causing violence at concerts & stuff. Damned shame, that.

Didn't care for the last 2 or 3 CD's anyway. Maybe they were just burnt out.

Kwoon: Chinese term for a place of training. Like Dojo from the Japanese language.
Simple put. School of Kung Fu.

That comparison you made in that email, of course, SP.

Jeff was really into Anastasio's work, & worked very hard to emulate his style & even some of his tones on a lot of songs we used to play.
