Tasty Tool-ish intro 8)
I'm not sure if I've heard it before, but it sounds good.
Interesting vocals. Tight sound, man, as always. Kept waiting for that piece'a shredding.. never came.. oh well :P

Vocals need a lot of work...You were flat through most of the song, and in some parts it just sounded like you were pushing out a huge poo...

But the instrumentals are good

Thanks Ryan. I appreciate honest opinion. Some dont like the way Ray does his vox. I have come to appreciate his "this is me" style however.
The emotion he puts into doing live makes a BIG difference in sound. We are not very good at capturing that feel in our practice recordings.
Ray does the intro. The rest of the guitar work is all me. No way I could hold that pace and throw in a lead as well. I'm just not that good, yet.

Your friend Ray is singing through his throat. That'll kill him vocally, one day. It's obvious when he hits those higher notes & tries to hold them. It sounds like he's in pain, & he is, to a degree. Try to get him to reach deeper, to push the sound out from the diaphram rather than squeezing the notes through his throat. Watch his posture, too, if he's looking down at his guitar while singing, he's cutting off a lot of power & making his throat force the sound out, & it's coming out kinda breathy/scratchy because of it.

Like the tune. Needs lead. Perhaps b/u vox, too.

Thank you philbymon. I will pass this on to Ray, and watch his posture.
That is not something I would have thought of, but make sense. Ray is attempting to display some aggitation (emotional changes) with the vocals in this tune, thus more growling than normal.
We are working a young man named Tony into the band as a Back up vocalist. Yet his range is simular to Ray's so it will take some doing.
I would have to drop out of the rythm ( I never can spell that right )
Do the lead and jump back into the rythm. OR, convince Ray to do the lead riffs. Humm, the wheels are turning.

I do appreciate your taking time to listen an critque.

I don't think he should stop the "growls" and whatnot. Just the way he does it, so it doesn't come out forced and more like felt.

I get ya Andrew. I,m on the same page. And believe me I take all the advice I get around here seriously. These dudes (and ladies) have helped me more than I could type. Even my wife has some of these peoples music on her Ipod. :D

Vocals are really dry. I think it would help out to put a little reverb and light delay on them.
I dug the intro and the riffage up to the first verse. But I think I would like to hear a little more of a change-up under the verses. Throw em a bit of a curveball.
But ya know, that's just my tastes talking.

Thank you gt.
We were using both of the effects you mentioned. They got deleted in the last couple of changes of the set up.
I had been meaning to put them back on and kinda lost track of it while weve been breaking in the new guy. Thanks for the critique and reminder.
