A neanderpaul fan from another website made an electric cigar box guitar for me!
I got it tuesday and wrote a song this morning and made a vid on my day off. I have like an hours experience with a slide before I got this thing so bear with me.

Excellent! Reminded me of some old OLD ZZTop (their 1st album -before anybody had ever heard of them) Nice effect, the dog scratching, did y'all have to rehearse that a bunch, or was it a first take thing? :D Now I gotta go into the shed and dig up a spark-plug socket.. I used to use a zippo lighter, but that looks like it works better. 8)

That is to cool, I have never seen a cigar box guitar, it must require a lot of bracing to support the neck and string tension. I also like the vid. you have a good voice dude!!!!!!

I luv y'all!

Very cool Paul!

My friend makes washtub and cardboard box basses. He was on the Today show demonstrating one. He played a gig with us using the washtub bass - a metal washtub, a broom handle and a piece of rope. Awesome!

Hey JimmyD, there's a local guy that plays an electric washtub bass. He puts a mic under it. LOL

I've played the thing, & it's way different, but not that hard, really, once you have the pitch positions in mind.

I tried playing the jug with him, but I suck at that...LOL There used to be a local guy that put some liquid in it, & leaned it this way & that for different notes. Believe it or not, it worked for him, but I never heard anyone else play it that way. Most ppl just drone the jug note & hum.

I'll take that ZZTop compliment any day. That little mutt.... what a story... we go way back. Like 10 years. She belongs to a self destructive friend of mine. That little dog used to pee herself when I would come see her. She was so happy to see me. She will eat a stranger though. Bit a neighbor the other day

Appreciate that philbymon. Remember I like to surprise and be different every time from freaky spoken word ... "I'm gonna get you" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pt2JIrYmYKU
to A Capella loops while drivin' ... "Andy Griffith" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxBFoS0huHI
To church hymns http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ziKfjHWqZ0
To pure pop. "Talkin' about me" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naA8_6a_KG0 To classic 70's era sounding metal ala JIMMY DANGER. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x63Nc0c7CJA

I had never seen one in person. It has no brace. It only has 3 strings so tension isn't that big of an issue. It does stay in tune. This is what the craftsman anomoly 40 said about it. "30" Red Oak 2x1 with the frets and fret markers burned in." Thanks for the props on my voice. It's my first instrument.

Well thanks Groove-in, by production do you mean audio? Either way it was all just my trusty sony DV cam. I LOVE the audio compression on that little beast.

Woah ! I even got Ryan on some old school standard style blues. I'm with you Ryan and If I recall correctly Philby too. It takes about a song or maybe 3 and i'm over the blues. This ancient style of blues is fun but I won't repeat it very often I'm sure.

Wow that is cool JD! I've often wondered about those washtub basses.

Robin! You are too kind. I really appreciate the feedback here, but going and making comments on my video itself is really going the extra mile and it fuels my neanderpaul internet train. Here is what Robin said and my response there. Thanks Robin!!
