Sound bleed audio problem

Hi all. Some of you commented on how muffled this recording was last week.
Here: >>> http://forum.bandmix.com/viewtopic.php?t=7294
I think I've now found the problem but no matter what I try I cannot rectify it. :(
Wondering if anyone with a similar setup can help witht this please?

For Example:
I record one track.
Add a new track and add another instrument.
If I then just let it record without adding any noise I get a faint, well not so faint copy of what was on the previous track. All in all this is messing with anything I trty to do and this happens both in cakewalk and Cubase.

I take it this is a sound card issue or how the mixer talks to the sound card perhaps? In any case I cannot do anything at all until this problem is fixed to some degree.

System setup is posted below in as much detail as I could get. Another problem in Cubase shows ASIO4ALL and although it is installed I cannot get to the control panel aftere uninstalling having thought that this might be the cause? All I see are uninstall options.

Many thanks indeed to anyone who can help me out with this issue.

Thanks Sentient.
I found the problem only moments before heading out to rehearsal, At least I think I have. I did just that. record some rubbish then add a new track and record nothing.

After about two hours worth of scratching my head I swapped over to 'tape to control room'. Bingo. :D

Previously the setup was 'Tape to Aux'. I think this has sorted it out thankfully, at least there will be only one instrument per track. :P

What documentation? Hahahahaha. Thanks again Sentient. Perhaps I can go for real now.

Best regards as always.

Try this:

Record one track. Set up a second track to record. Start recording (don't need to play anything), then open your Audiophile control panel and click the mixer tab. Are there any signals there? (Check every channel!)

If not, we'll try something else. If there is, let me know, and I'll see if I can logic out how it's bleeding to your new track. If there is a signal anywhere there (and you're not playing anything!), that's likely where it's coming from.

I have an M-Audio Delta 1010LT, but I'm betting your panel works the same as mine. I've had similar problems with it, and it can be confusing to figure out. Their documentation sucks in my opinion!

Let me know.

I know it is. :D

I was scratching my head for hours and changing EQ but it was when I heard bass when everything else was muted I realized there was a problem

Something we'll bot not forget in a hurry right. hahahaha

I just had a similar problem, but not with bleed. I couldn't figure out how to monitor through headphones after installing a new set of self powered monitor speakers. I do have multiple outs from my card, and can route a signal to my home stereo during miked recordings, but couldn't get the tracks already recorded to play back. I could only get the main 1/2 signal to play those tracks, so thought I was going to have to find or build a switch to reroute that signal.

I couldn't find what I was looking for on line, so I put in a call to the local music store. There's a guy there who knows just about everything there is to know about home studio recording.

While waiting for his call, which was about twenty minutes, I solved the problem in much the same way you did.

It was just a setting I didn't know was there, or hadn't thought of.

Happens a lot to me. I either place a call, or put a post in a forum, and solve the problem right after giving up and making the call.

Funny how that works isn't it? 8)
