Hmmm... since not everyone always comments on the stuff we put up (as far as regulars go), maybe we can start using the Poll feature? Instead of just straight written feedback.
Might get a better gauge of what people really think of your stuff. More anonymous-ness.

No worry about competition from this site. I created a profile, uploaded a couple songs then wanted to go check out who else there is to listen to. the site lets them take my songs and I can go to my profile, change my profile, see my songs, and logout.
Nowhere else to go and noone else to listen to.

Ratings suck. Everyone has a different taste and they WILL be biased. So will I.

I know ratings are not everything but they provide a general idea of how good a song is. I think a good song is the song that someone takes the time to save as a favorite when they listen to it. It says more about the song than the ratings. That's what I have tried to do with this website. A fast and easy way to filter good songs from the rest.

It's not a bad idea at all.
Perhaps if we as a group came up with a standardised poll.
You know a set of questions we could all use when we post new or updated material. like
(a) It sucks!
(b) Aint my thing but not bad.
(c) Its a good start, needs work.
(d) HELL YEA, ROCK ON!!!

When it comes to creating music, you should not let ratings discourage you but instead work on it more and make it better. I think the reality is that people decide within 30 seconds of listening to a song whether they should keep listening to it or go to the next one. Although musicians have put a lot of work in coming up with a song, the listener is the ultimate judge. But, I think we should use their judgment to better our songs.
