Looks like a great group. Im sure I will be asking alot of questions, and hopefully, I can answer some too.

Welcome to the forum. You'll like it a lot as long as you don't try to sell us anything (are you selling pick holder accessories?), or if you're a bed spaller, or if you're at all political, or...

Well, that being said, I have some advice for you. Fill out your profile a bit, so we know more about you, & put up some MP3 tunes so we can hear your chops.

Seriously, welcome! I hope you find the band you seek here.

You have a Warwick, yet you want to switch to guitar? Okay, I hate you now. I really want one of them thumbs but I can't afford it. I, like so many of the greatest bass players in the world (hahaha) switched from guitar to bass. I have no idea why someone would want to go the other way. What's wrong with you? Must be a Texas thing.

There are a few Texans here. Perhaps you know some of them, it being such a small state & all. My in-laws live there so I try to avoid it, myself.

Would you mind if I called you "Tex?"

I was really trying to be all warm & fuzzy this morning, but I'm failing miserably. Don't take it personally, but DO take my advice if you can.

I play bass, too. Seems like ppl are always looking for a bass player unless I'm around. I wonder why?

:D

Why, thank you, Cap. I live to serve.

When I grow up I wanna be a Wal-Mart greeter or a hostess at Denny's.

Who said Im switching?...Never! I love all my basses, and play on all the time. Just expanding my horizons. Yep, the Warwick is my #1 instrument. That big ol Bubinga body sure gets heavy after about an hour even with a padded 4" strap. But that growling tone is worth it.

I didn't see it, Joseph. I thought it was a porn flick for men who like lots of men...er...in the biblical way.

Koy - I envy you in a big way, or I would except I'm glad I'm not in Texas. I played a thumb that was actually comfortable. It had a smallish body, yet it had that rounded back that fits so well with my protruding abs. It seemed like it would be great to play all night long. It was beefy, but not overly so, & just perfectly balanced for me. Which model do you have?

I've been wrestling with this Aria Pro II for about 10 years. I traded a Fender Jazz for it, but I wanted 2 full octaves cuz I'm a frustrated guitar player who picked up the bass. I'm REALLY glad I got rid of the Peavey T-40 I started with cuz it was a rock, unbalanced, with terrible pu's & hard to play as well. I also plink around with a Soundesign 5 string, which is cool fun.

I've been toying with the idea of a fretless, too. Ah, someday I might just pop the frets offa one of 'em & give it the ol' college try like Jaco did...LOL

I have a 4 strig fretless. Although its a rather cheap bass ( A Tradition) Its got a good straight neck and plays very nicely thru my ampeg. Worth a look if you want to go fretless on the cheap. I have a standard Warwick 4 string, and again, its my favorite of all my instruments.

Hey Koy! Listening to "G-Spot." Are you playing everything with a drum machine? Cool little thingie, it is.

Profile lookin' good, man, except I don't see nuffin in there about Victor Wooten bein' your biggest influence ever (my idol on bass!)...or Mark King...or Stanley Clark...or Paul McCartney...or Jughead (I think he played in the Archies)

Just the percussion parts. Im doin the rest. Yeah, I love my drum machine! Its a Dr. Rhythm 880. I highly recommend a good digital drummer for anyone just starting out. Especially on Bass. Unlike real drummers, its always ready to play, always on time, never shows up drunk, Always plays it like you want it to, Gosh, the list goes on and on! (Easy all you drummers, Im just kidding around!) For real though, its a good way to get used to playing in the pocket, and keeping time. G-Spot is recorded using a Tascam 8 track digital recorder, which is also good to have around.

I didnt mention the Phenominal Vic Wooten in my influences because I am not worthy! Jeez, the guy is incredible! Im pretty sure he is an alien. No one of this earth can do that stuff. My favorite YouTube video is Norwegian Wood. If you havent seen it, its definately worth a look! Heres a link:

Im also completely knocked out by Marcus Miller, and the adorable Tal Wilkenfeld. Good Stuff!
