I'm not sure how many of you are dealing with the recent hurricane and the storms it brewed, but I'm sitting in north Louisiana watching the tail end of it roll through and hoping it's finished with us. I know sansoheil is getting some nasty weather right now, it's been stomping hell out of Shreveport for the past 3 days and he's not too far from there, and I Know it's well into Texas.

We got mucho rain here, power went out 3 times, up to about 60 mph winds, quite a few limbs down but no trees I'm aware of and I think it yanked some shingles loose on my roof, I discovered a small leak this morning that wasn't there yesterday at 1pm when I took a nap. On eof the times the power went out it was down for over 3 hours and took out an area at least 20 miles every direction.

I don't know how much rain we got, I rarely watch TV and get horrible reception with rabbit ears anyway, but it's been literally nonstop the past 2 days. Wind was whistling and howling around the roof edges Monday night, that was the worst of the wind, but plenty windy yesterday too, pretty steady around 20-25mph most of the day and a nonstop heavy drizzle.

On the upside, no serious damage to me or any of my relatives, my mother is in Texas a couple of hours south of sans, she got the same as here, lots of rain and heavy winds, but no damage that I know of.

We have almost 10,000 people here evacuated from New Orleans, 2000 or more in our parish, 7500 in the parish next door. (We have parishes, not counties.)

Anybody else get any serious weather from this storm? We didn't get it that bad, not as bad as expected anyway, so that's a good thing...

How's your weather??

Rain, rain and rain. We got very little wind. My wife and I were going to have a three day weekend off together. First time off together in quite some time. We both ended up having to work due to medical evacuees.
Damn storm was not even worth evacuating for. We sat through much worse in the 60's in Corpus Christi. Dad would take us out to walk / play in the eye. When we saw the backside of the storm coming we'd go back in the house. Oh well. Glad you and your mom faired well Paleopete.

All we've had in WV is hot & humid weather. Bright sun & wet still air.

It really sucks when you're working up & down ladders & scaffolding all day. Add this sudden attack of sinus headaches & nausea & you have the perfect day to cut & heft around concrete siding sheets that weight up to 80 lbs each.

Sorry, but I just had to gripe.

Can't wait for the hurricane to hit here. It'll gimme a day or two to do some inside stuff, like work on those tunes I'm supposed to be learning by Monday night. Too wasted from today to even think about doing anything but sitting on my behind & getting more behind on what I'm s'posed to be doing, but hey, I'm tired & I think I've cooked off some valuable brain cells out in the sun today!

Yeah, I know...I'm whining, & although I know I should get up & work on stuff, I am not gonna do it tonight. Waah...my head hurts.

Cable? I might have $20 for groceries this week,m and don't really care a thing about TV anyway, I turn the thing on and watch a movie now and then (DVD or VCR) and that's about it. Cable's not worth it.

Philby...I hear ya, that kind of work sucks. I'm doing remodeling right now myself, very similar...ladders, skil saws, all that. Sometimes I don't practice for several days because I'm just too tired to deal with it...hope things start looking better soon.

Sans...glad you didn't get the bad side of this storm. We had steady rain and a lot of wind, but very little real damage. I did spot two trees down yesterday, one a large pecan tree leaning against a house trailer, that's the only thing holding it up. Glad you're ok though.
