So I wrote a song today..

It's....... Something I've never done before. What can I say about it? I'm not even sure.

Eh. Take a listen. Definitely stepped outside the box on this one. Some of you will probably like it. Some of you will probably.. not.

It's.

Different.

Yeah, Burn is one of my favorites tunes. Sugar and Sunshine? That's a bit different for you Shredd. Your not going to go all KC And The Sunshine Band on me now are you?

Thanks man.. Considering I'm a white boy from Bakersfield who's never been to Hawaii, I guess it's not bad. But..

You know.. My favorite guitar player is Steve Vai. And I can't think of anyone who's able to spread into so many different styles at the drop of a hat and just kill at it. No doubt Frank Zappa had a lot to do with that. Experimenting into different musical horizons is never a bad thing.

I don't think I was quite able to capture Hawaiian Reggae Haleamano style. But rather Uncle Cracker instead..Hahaha..

It was worth trying.

But it's probably best to just let the Hawaiians do what they do best and enjoy it.

OK.. So I just got some interesting feedback on this song.

As it turns out, little kids LOVE this song. Kids from 1-5 LOVE it!!! I got feedback from a person here in Vegas who does child-storytelling books, and this song is a hit. Not to mention, the feedback from family and friends that have kids in that age range.

So I guess you never know.. Stepping outside the box isn't so bad sometimes. If it makes a little kid that happy, then it was well worth it.

Fair warning: If you play this song to your kid, it just might end up being it's new favorite song. That means you'd have to hear it 1,000,000 times in one year. And you will hate me for it. Those of you who know what I'm talking about, know why I'm giving you this fair warning. I literally now have to make a new Myspace page specifically for this song.

haha Shredd, what's up, man?
How was the move?

Sounds very chill and that's what Reggae styles are all bout. Dunno if it's all a big innuendo or it's really okay for kids to sing along   8)
Nice underlying lead ofcourse. If only it didn't fade out on my ears... :(

Shredd: You are right. It's not bad...
It's friking great!
Reminds me of sugar ray, and (IMO) it's as good as any of their stuff that I've heard.
I wouldn't suprise me one bit if it made it to the radio and got played a bizillion times.

You certainly have the goods.

Hey Shredd,

Nice tune, I hear sugar ray combined with Cake. I like Cake. Don't care for sugar ray.

Personally I think "burn" is a far better song, it seems to capture raw emotion much better. It works. Sugar and sunshine kinda works, but kinda doesn't. In the verse/chorus, it sounds like either keys or clean faded guitar, maybe you could replace that with a slightly gritty mild distortion guitar? It feels like it's almost there on the feel, but not quite hitting the bullseye.

Maybe I shouldn't critique songs though.
