Hmm...sell it, or keep it?

Going up to the folk's place in a couple weeks to get my mid 60s Blackface Fender Twin Reverb out of storage. I'm going to have it re-tubed, and gone over by an amp tech with the idea of selling it when it's back in tip top shape, but something tells me that if I plug it in and hear that classic Fender reverb, and tremolo, I might not be able to part with it even though it's only really good for clean tones. Decisions, decisions :?:

Well Im probably the biggest musical pack rat on here. I would keep it. Ive still got the original crappy Sears and Roebuck guitar that I cut my teeth on as a teenager. I had a Fender Music Master bass way back when and I regret not keeping it.

I would think with the material that you record and post a good clean amp might come in handy every now and then.

Good Luck with your decision.

I wanna shoot myself in the foot every time I think about selling my pre-CBS Twin. That was my very 1st amp, & I still love those things!

Gee - thanks for reminding me.

Why don't you just give me a nice paper cut & rub lemon juice in it!

Don't sell it unless you're selling it to me.

Keep it !

Do you really need the money you get from selling it ?

As someone who starting playing(???) in the 70's the list
of stuff I sold, traded etc would make a collector cry just
like it does, me.

You will always carry the regret from selling something you
will never get back whereas the money you get from it never
seems to hang around that long.

Keep it!

Mine's a silverface and I won't even think about selling it. Both actually, Super Reverb and Champ. No way I'll sell them.

And where do you think Eric Johnson gets his cleans? Pair of blackface Twin Reverbs both on about volume 3. What did Rory Gallagher play? Twin Reverb or Vox AC 30. Ted Nugent? Wall of Twin Reverbs.

Only cleans? Nonsense. My Super will get el rauncho deluxe any time, just crank it to 10. Your Twin should do the same, but it's way loud at 10. That's how Ted did it. It's just not as high gain as a Marshall so it's not quite as dirty, but it will get some great cranked tube amp raunch.

Never sell a blackface, most musicians will give their eye teeth for them. Well, guitar players anyway....those and 60's Marshalls...

Keep it!

If you sell it you will just spend more money in the future to fill the hole the selling enevitably creates.

I believe my Twin is post CBS. The amps kept the blackface for about a year after the take over. You can tell by the front face plate. Under the model name it will either say FENDER ELECTRIC INSTRUMENT CO. (pre CBS) or
FENDER MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS (post CBS)

I had the Sears Silvertone Guit/case/amp combo....that would buy me a car now. don't sell it unless its an offer you cant refuse. then think again! I never want to sell "any" of my gear; I've regretted it every time I did!!!

I too, own a very nice Fender twin. I used to play guitar . But, for the last so many years, I now play keyboards almost excusively.
Growing up, I used to listen to, and watch, all MY favorite idols playing guitar thru Fender amps. Most of the songs they were playing, were the foundation/ building blocks of the music with appreciate today.
Today, I almost never use my Fender amp. But, when I get the urge for that sweet fender amp sound :D , I know where it is.
I don't mean this as a smart-ass remark. But, if you don't realize/appreciate what a great amp that you have  ,....... YES, you should SELL IT !!!

They still sounded really nice!

Just last night I was kicking myself for selling my '68 bassman head two years ago.
DONT DO IT

Oh I'm totally hip to what I have, but the thinking is that I already own 2 other great sounding 2X12 combo amps (The Supro, and Silvertone pictured on my page) and that the cash would help me get some long needed work done on a couple of my guitars. That being said I still doubt that I'll sell the Twin because like some of you said, there's a big regret factor involved with gear that's been let go (Even if I could find my old mid 60s 335 that was custom ordered from the Gibson plant with an ebony fretboard, I couldn't afford to buy it back
