I was trying to note-for-note it, I realized my first upload was some wrong notes... so I re-learned the correct notes, but the freeking main rhythm is so damn hard... so my latest upload is closer to the proper notes, but fumbling through it lol.
I will keep practicing and post new versions as I master that main riff.
Thanks for the kudos

I know it's not a simple tune, but I liked what you did.
Where are all the Rush fans that kept posting in the other threads "Rush rush rush rush..?"

lol, brave...stupid...what's the difference? I have a lot of fun playing rush covers

using BT's kind of sucks, but better than nothing and I sure as hell can't do those bass and drum lines myself. Until my band gets our demos recorded, I guess i put put up junk of my own.
I have the strange surf and limelight demos on my myspace page and just got an email offering to hire us to play in philly in the fall , wohoo

Hey Kramer...I can see why you like to play stuff note for note. You do it well. I'd be hard-pressed to play that bass-line, though. Could I do it.......................my way?
This type of material definitely falls into my "note for note" category, all kidding aside. It's a composition. I don't think of it as r&r, because it's so necessarily strict in it's form. Oh, it rocks, in its own way, but when I think of r&r I think of Born to be Wild or Bad Co etc.
Now Born To Be Wild is another story...LOL...it's been done & done & done...I'd like to try a little something different with it for a lil change of pace. Howzabout the sissy/nerdy version - Born to be Mild?

yeah my band does born to be wild also, we stick to the original arrangement, but sorta play it a little harder and faster, so you are correct in that regard - trying to give an old song new life. Personally, I'd prefer to drop the song..
I see it like when, back in the 80's, classic rock was 60's and 70's...
Anything earlier was 'oldies'
So today, classic rock should be 80's and 90's
So that stuff from the 60's and 70's we play today is like 'oldies'.. ugh.!!

Yyz is definitely not your usual venue cover tune. I'm glad it isn't though. It has to be played with great feel, because that's what Rush excelled at the most, imo.

It's funny, the more I listen to it, the more mistakes I hear myself making
Being the super anal perfectionist that I am, I will be boning up on it until I can nail it to the wall with one arm tied behind my back. Will let you know when I replace the demo with a better one. I give myself a week to really get it solid.

Well...I just gotta add a term to this impressive list.
The music I played tonight was right next to the "Cornholin' contest!"
I kid you not. Evidently, there's a new thing among the tail-gaters. They put up two ramps with holes in them & throw bean-bags at them. They call it "cornholing."
The head of events at the fair had never heard of the term before, so she went ahead & used it, with a big sign & everything. I never laughed so hard in all my life when I saw that one.
I wanted so bad to get to be the guy that introduced the winner as "KING CORNHOLE!"
OMFG!
