Well Jimi Hendrix opening for the Beatles comes to mind. But if it could only be existing bands I might go for The Flaming Lips opening for Morrissey or Devo opening for Depeche Mode.

I would like to see Cornell take the stage with Shinedown and do a killer Soundgarden cover.
I'll keep dreaming. Good thread.

Kiss and Ted dueling on opposing stages. One song for one song. Flip a coin for the opener.

The Bluefin Tuna Band (I'm in that) opening for the Bill Blue Band. It would be an honor.

Im with Crip
My old band Aint Yo Mama and the new one Im in Strange Hombres
I would love to have seen Robin Trower and Jeff Beck on the same bill.
Iron Maiden with Judas Priest
One of my early concert experiences had Van Halen 1st, Journey 2nd and Ronnie Montrose as the headliner, looking back that was a pretty cool lineup.
I saw Van Halen backing up Black Sabbath, Halen was on fire in those days. Ozzy flipped the Memphis crowd off and said f*** Memphis and walked off after about 20 minutes, that was classic.
Another great show I remember was Sammy Hagar opening for AC/DC, it was one of the loudest Ive ever been too.
Oh yeah I saw AC/DC on their Let There Be Rock tour opening for Kiss.
When I think about it I dont know who I would want to see cause I went and saw a lot of the greats in their heyday.
Oh I forgot I would have loved to see one of Zeps 3 and a half hour shows in the mid 70s, I never saw Zep, for me that would have been the ultimate. There wouldnt have to be an opening act for that.

Absolutely...in complete agreement there.
Of course, Refused aren't around either, and unfortuantly its heirs, international noise conspiracy, aren't anywhere close to being as good as refused was. I do generally like mars volta, although I haven't paid that much attention to them more recently.
