We have an opportunity to play Sturgis, which seems to be one of the largest bike rallies around, but it is in South Dakota, the Black Hills, and damn, that's far. I suppose we could try and get gigs up and back though.

Anyone been to this thing?

Know anything about it?

Here is the website:

I know there are people from here that travel to that. You should definitely make the trip if you can. That event is HUGE!!

You'd be playing to a National audience.

Just look at who else is playing the event. Kiss and Kenney Chesney.

I'm not a big fan of Country music, but Kenney Chesney is a cool motherf**ker. He played at the Hog's Breath in Key West one day. And that's a small bar. I've always got a lot of respect for musicians who do things like that. He just hung out with the regular folk after he was done.

And if an event can afford Kiss, It's pretty big.Hahaha.. You know Gene wants a fortune.

Oh sh*t - LOL

I looked right over the graphics with Kiss and Chesney. Didn't even pay attention to it. Crap.

Well, our booking agent will be talking with them, and we'll see what happens, but I doubt their budget will pay a band from Atlanta only beginning to make a name, what we would need to do this.

If we can afford it somehow, we'll do it.

Looks like a great opportunity.

We'll see what happens.

We just booked a bike rally today (a different one) and someone is trying to help us get into the Angel City Bike Rally, which is a pretty major biker rally as well.

Let's put it this way: You're gonna have at least 10 new cowboy (I try not to say rednecks and offend folks) fans. Definitely do it, but most importantly, have fun there.

Sh*t... offend someone? While often used as a pejorative, most southerners carry it with pride. LOL

The drummer we are auditioning now, has a nickname of "Redneck Fury" given to him years ago.

Go figure. :-)

Oh trust me, it had offended someone in the past. I don't repeat my mistakes.. mostly.

Hey Craig.

You should have your booking agent book you at the Hog's Breath someday.

Key West is the f**king s**t!!! Especially in the summer.

You can play a gig there, and the Hog's Breath has an online "stage cam" complete with sound.. You can post bulletins, and let everyone here know when your playing, and we'll all be able to watch it..

Check it out.

There's the stage. That's where Kenney Chesney played. Hahaha.. I can hear the Roosters crowing.

That would kick ass dude.

I went to one in 93 and it was crazy. bikers from all over the world. 100,000+ bikers in the area and they draw from neighboring counties to get 10-12 cops on duty. organized chaos. there were biker gangs in suits... ladies showing their whoo-haas every time you turn around. streets closed off where bikers were doing burn out contests... wheelie contests... you name it... basically the same stuff that goes on at the harley rally in milwaukee every five years. I'd be willing to bet you'd have fun there. You are going to want to play some joe walsh stuff (I don't know why those ppul love joe walsh so much but they do - he's like the spokesperson for biker rallys).

good luck and have fun!

Oh sh*t. I did. I heard friggin' roosters. I thought you were joking. LOL

I'm gonna check it later when some band may be playing. Right now, there is just an old dude at the bar talking on his cell phone.

Is that a tree growing through the stage? LOL

Where are the drums gonna go? That's a tiny stage. May have to do it as an acoustic act.

Pretty cool though, having a stage cam.

Joe Walsh, the spokesperson for bikers. LOL

Who knew?

Thanks brother, I'll have to remember that.

I always wanted to cover "Life's Been Good" by Walsh. Maybe now I should?

What did you call me???

hehe...

I grew up with a major league redneck for a father, believe me it wasn't fun getting screamed at for years because I liked rock instead of country, I hate country now because of it. Got screamed at for 5 years and accused of "doing dope" long before I ever saw a joint or anything else. didn't want it, had no interest in it, finally decided it was time to try weed when he threatened to turn me in to the police for something I'd never even seen...If I'm going to get thrown in jail it WON'T be for something I've never done...so I told a few friends at school (senior year) I wanted to join the party...he was still screaming and insulting me when he died...after I stayed with him for 2 years and helped him when he couldn't walk, really bad health from diabetes...greasy food was his drug, he threw screaming fits for fried chicken after promising his doctor he'd eat right.

Trust me you don't want to know what a REAL redneck is like...I grew up with one and have paid for it for my entire life. Biased, loudmouth, selfish, prejudiced...redneck is basically a nice term for a*%hole.

But it doesn't offend me at all, or bother me, I still live in redneckville louisiana and we joke about it all the time, it's not a big thing, very similar to blacks calling each other niggers. By the way I NEVER use that word...ever...except in situations like this.

OK back on topic...Joe Walsh definitely, they'll love it. Rocky Mountain Way would be good, Life's Been Good will work, Funk 49, any others you can put together. Skynyrd will go over well, so will 38 Special, most other southern rock (you guys can play southern rock right? :D ) and I once played Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" at a party for a Baton Rouge area biker party. The people who had so far completely ignored me (they didn't applaud, they thought that was implying I was better than them) stopped whatever they were doing, pool games stopped in mid-shot, and every eye was on me, nobody moved a muscle, I had their undivided attention...finished the song and they went back to their partying and pool games and continued ignoring me. I didn't know what to think...

Later I found out one of their members had died a few weeks earlier and that was the song they played at his funeral. Their captain came up afterward and told me if I ever needed anything all I had to do was call them. No I never took him up on it...but some of them showed up every time I played anywhere after that. Very loyal fans...
