Hey, I'm in Illinois too, near Gurnee. I've been playing forever it seems, and you're right, we old farts are really being ignored. Check my profile. Like you I've played with some stars in the past, have professional experience, have awesome equipment and am ready to do some rocking.
Drop me an email at [email protected]. Maybe we can get together and jam. I'm willing to drive up to 50 miles if necessary.

I've been playing sax for over 45 years and I have to agree. As they say the new music ain't got no soul and very little talent needed. I miss the early sixties. You really have to search hard to find some good songs nowadays. I haven't had much trouble playing with some of the younger musicians in this area though most of them think that loud is better. I mostly play with guys that are around fifty. There is no variety or feeling; every song seems the same, a guitar trying to drown out the singer. I live in Southern IL. in a very rural area, but there are still some good musicians out there, if you look hard.

Being from the East (PA, NJ) you'd think there were more Boomers that still want to play. I've done the 45 record demo route back in the 70's then family building time. Now I'm where I was back then and can't find a few people to rock with. You're so right about what good music is and yes we did live it. I'm 52 and play better guitar then ever. If anyone is from the east, let's hear from you.

Hey there music brother from Allentown,
Check a few posts up and you would have spotted that I'm from your neck of the woods,I'm in western,NY on the southern tier in Salamanca.I'm right near the new seneca-allegany casino and 18 miles north of Bradford,Pa.Check the bands website at www.exit20.altpro.net.
We'd like if we could actually play in Allentown but we probably couldn't get what we want for the travelling with the local bands your local bars have to choose from.......

Hey Tim, Joe here from Allentown. I did check your site. It looks like you guys do great. I also liked the sound. Your own stuff? I've got to find some people to create with. You're lucky to be where you're at with the music. The rest of us old guys still seem to be searching.
Check out this site http://www.songwritersguild.com/index.html with a good interview of Felix Cavaliere from the Young Rascals on the home page.

I'm 54 and still rockin--- in my basement! I'm tired of box drummers/bass players . Located in eastern Iowa and there's not many older players to jam with! I like to play classic rock and blues and it seems even the middle age players in the local bands have the rockstar attitude and play new heavy metal/ loud trash. Seems the classics and blues have a very select audience. WE old basterds need to get something going!

This post sounds like me a year ago. I was so tired of being the old sit-in guy just playing whatever to be playing something. One evening I started searching on the web for people I knew and played with in the 60's and 70's. I found a few old timers that still had the desire and now in our 50's and one in his 60's had the time. I have to drive a couple of hours for practice and most gigs but damn it sure feels good not having to explain who Hubert Sumlin is or how to play a "Bootsy" bass line on the "one".

We are doing stuff ranging from Howlin Wolf to Wilco. The oldtimers are out there ya just gotta find em and wake em up.

And as far as the volume is concerned I can use the "hard of hearing" excuse to crank it up.

Keep the music alive.

I feel a "Group Hug" comin on here :D !!! Hi all, Mike here, Hopin to shed some lite on the subject at hand. 48 and still able to Rock. Seems like we are a "brotherhood" of incognitos. We all have somethin to share, but you wouldn't know it to look at us. At our ages we all have a few sags here and bags there, a gray hair or so, (it may b gray, but it is a hair! ) But you cant discount our seasoned spirit, or our drive to play. We all have somethin to still share, and for whatever reason, the drive is still alive!!! South Fla, is supposed to b paridise, but for me it lacks the enthusiasim of musicians, as opposed to this thread, God Bless..........MS

Same ole song & dance. I'm 53 & the drummer is 52. We've been jamming for over two years, but can't find a bass player. We've been doing this stuff for so long & don't want to give up, but it's frustrating. We're about 70 miles west of D.C. & it's hard to beleive that we can't scare up a few old timers.
