Is anyone doing the online roecording thing or know of anyone who is?

The online Recording thing is where a someone will lay down a track or two of a song idea and then pass it along to others to add tracks to it.

Just something I always wanted to try.
Thanks,
B)

Yeah, and there's a few threads on this subject, already, somewhere here.
Maybe someone will supply the thread for you . . .
.
But first . . .
Check out my profile for a sample of the very thing you're talking about.
The female vocal tracks for my song "Molasses Blues" came from a friend of mine in Australia, Julie Jazz.
.
I emailed her the Bass & guitar tracks, and she recorded the vocal tracks.
There was a little hiss on her track, but it didn't come out too badly.
.
The song you REALLY need to hear, with the same backstory (and NO hiss ) is on my Myspace page.
"Folks I Knew, (If You Catch Me Crying)."

"Folks I Knew, (If You Catch Me Crying)."
Really, you need to hear this song. Recorded at home, w/ 40 hours of mixing . . .
The entire song was recorded and mixed on a stock home computer, using software costing under $100.
.
So, yeah, people are doing this.
:)
So, interested? Got clean recording capabilities?
You seem to prefer doing harder rock than me, though. I'm more jazzy - bluesy - rock than you, but there's lots of people here . . .
Alan

There are entire forums devoted to this. Do a search for collaboration forums. I tried it but didn't have much luck, my style is just to weird for them LOL. 8)

Go to the site below. Tons of colaberations going on there. Lots of people using loops, but some phenominal musicians there too. Everyone posts parts of stuff they have then other people ask if they can use it. Check it out I've started doing alot of stuff there. Has a forum section for collaborations.

If you check the thread why am I here. You will see that most of these guys said it was for boobies. So be carefull. LOL

I bundled all my replies together into one.

Thanks for the welcome and the compliments!
Much appreciated!

Demo was studio clips and I did the stitching together and post production on my beloved old copy of Cool Edit Pro 2.0.
The bass amp was a 1960's ampeg B-15 of all things...The studio was very nice to let me use it.

I'm not just stuck into rock. That was just the job description for that particular band.
I can also play and sing a wicked "What A Wonderful World". Yup its true :)
I might just record that next week and see how it comes out.

Yup I have a clean line in to record to.
So I'm game if anyone is interested. I have a few good sounds that seem to apply to different needs.
It'd be a blast to try!

Rhythmman and Greeniemagic - Both Excellent songs! Very imaginative. I'd like to hear even more.

I saw that post!
Go figure, I said I was here to meet musicians as well as start a band...LOL
I'm sure there is a "boobies forum" somewhere out there for them.

EZen, I shot you a MySpace friend request.

I need to get some of this recording stuff.

Haven't been able to record in some time without going to a friend's house to do it. It might also unblock my writing troubles. I've been banging my headbone against the wall for far too long.

The whole on-line collaboration idea is very appealing.

ezen...love your posted stuff.

Thanks :)

Try Audacity? Its free and at least is basic multitracking.
I goof with it on my linux laptop when I need to quick edit things.

I know your pain...
I'm just thinking about originals at the young age of 45!
I try to write but can't or I get a great riff in my head to start and I'm a hundred miles away from my PDA...lol

I should take myspace more seriously eh?
I sorta joined on a whim.
I'll fix that next.
I think Ilike this here "premium" site better.

Thanks for the add BTW

I still write originals, and I'm over 50.
All different styles, but most of it is too complex for most musicians.
So I'm stuck being solo . . .
