Hate to say this, but GOOD LUCK. Emo sucks, as far as I'm concerned. From what I've heard, it sounds like punk meets thrash meets wannabe Bowie. Broaden your horizons to be a more well rounded musician instead of limiting yourself to being a one trick pony.

Guy Picciotto of Fugazi and Rites of Spring was asked how he felt about "being the creator of the emo genre". He responded: "I don't recognize that attribution. I've never recognized 'emo' as a genre of music. I always thought it was the most retarded term ever. I know there is this generic commonplace that every band that gets labeled with that term hates it. They feel scandalized by it. But honestly, I just thought that all the bands I played in were punk rock bands. The reason I think it's so stupid is that - what, like the Bad Brains weren't emotional? What - they were robots or something? It just doesn't make any sense to me."

I always hated that term too. Aside from being completely meaningless, it always reminded my of the Captain of the Nautilus submarine in that Jules Verne novel....the last person I expected to be playing guitar next to Robert Smith (The Cure) with his carefully moussed bangs covering one of his sad eyes...

The thing that sucks for "emolover" and kids of her generation is that you guys are stuck with shite duplicated music. If you like emo so much that is what you like. My generation 90's had grunge and alternative which in my opinon was the best generation since the 60's. Don't bother with emo and the shite, try Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage, Oasis, Stone Roses, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees and such. Or if ya like punk try the real one's, Sex Pistols, Dead Boys, Ramones, Fear, Uk Subs, Stranglers, NY Dolls. Even the female bands, Hole, L7, Babes in Toyland, Runaways, Veruca Salt. You will see where these emo/punk/pop bands stole their shite from.

Hey guys, if she into emo then let her be just love what you do, also the greatest generation of rock was Led Zepplen, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin, not to mention the ones that started it all The Beatles, and Rolling Stones, now smash a pumpkin on that. But I agree with PopRock don't get stuck into one thing do it all and have a great time especially if you can really sing. Don't let anything discourage you from your dream just keep on rockn............Now where's my guitar
