Hey, I'm a 19 year old singer/songwriter/guitar player from Bloomington Indiana. I have been trying to get a band together for a few years. and I wanted to give you a few links to music I have up online, and see what you think about it. what should I do next? is it any good? or should i just give up...

If you wouldeven consider the give up option for real there is no point in anyone listening. If its what you want to do you never give up EVER.

I liked "This is how it's gonna be" and also "Waiting" had some good ideas in it. "Shooting Star" has a pretty build up, and I like the harmonies on the end.

In fact, most of the songs on that page are nicely melodic, sometimes beautifully so, and moody. Your voice works. You just need practice and honing of your skills and a fuller band to back you up, and I think you have something worth pursuing.

I like, in fact I LOVE, seeing a young guy writing stuff with actual feeling to it.

You shouldn't give up.

Keep it up, and you'll be a really good songwriter before all is said and done. You are on the way now.

Yeah , I pretty much share Craigs opinion on the tunes mentioned...Yeah , It sounds like your all about the arrangement as a whole with lots of detail..I like the time sig changes.Is that a cassette deck rewinding during part of Shooting Star?..I thought mine was runnin... ...The belch DID help the intro .... ...Yeah man, some of the vocals are alittle rough (pitchy)
Heck mine are too.. )but Im sure the more ya do those tunes live or in the studio , they'll get better...Now you boys need to leave that Acid alone...ie "for little reason at all"....

Give up? You're all of NINETEEN years old. I wish I was nineteen again. I'm fifty and I still won't give up. I've had more ups and downs in this crazy music business than I can remember. I guess I'll give up when a coroner pries my Fender Precision out of my cold stiff hands. If some of these pros on Bandmix say you've got potential then you definitely shouldn't give up. A few years from now when you're on tour you'll look back and realize what a waste of talent it would have been to give up. Later...

What you should do next is continue practicing vocals and writing songs.
And it's healthy to question yourself and have doubts at times. It keeps you grounded and will probably keep you striving for better and better.
The people that think everything they do is great, are usually the ones who have no clue -- no sense of their true standing or true abilities.
I think you know that it's good, but I'm guessing that you're not a clueless, arrogant prick, and so you want to hear someone else say it.
So... "It's good."

Your work has potential.

Your talent is evident. Develop it by keeping up the writing, recording & playing your songs, playing with others to learn new skills & get new ideas, & by listening to your muse.

Keep true to your vision. Even if it doesn't make you rich & famous, well, compare it to your life right now. You aren't rich or famous now, yet your music makes you happy & gives you a feeling of accomplishment.

Working in today's world, where you go to work & it looks exactly the same when you leave as it did when you arrived, that feeling of accomplishment is all too rare.

Enjoy it for all your life, whether or not you ever "make it" or even become locally popular.

Thanks a lot for all the input everyone I really appreciate it. I checked out all you're guys stuff as well. you're all really good man. and so we will all keep up the music together, and play to all that will hear! Across the land, and our children will pick up our guitars when where done!
