I was wondering what you guys thought of the concept of getting a drummer with his/her own studio to do drum tracks for demos/projects and whatnot.

I personally think it'd be a great option for those who are having a bit of trouble on the drummer-front (who isn't, really?) and need to get sh*t done rather than wait for Mr. Right Drummer to come along.

I think it's called "being a studio musician".

I'd do that on guitar for money, too.

I work with one very good drummer that has his own studio. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Yeah, "outsourcing" is just fine. I've done some studio work for ppl, too.

Nice page!...Yeah, as I read the boards both, local and national ,the local studio is becoming a thing of the past...I used to do alot demo sessions but I know of 3 studios that have closed their doors just in the past 5 years or so..Most peoples home studios' do not have a miked kit interfaced and ready to go...Yeah , I was lookin at your mic selection.Im learning that THEY make a big difference...Yeah, Im workin on a cool arr. for a member as I type....Sure wish I had YOUR Mics.. ..Yeah , Im sure they'll be some takers...Gettin a miked kit (not triggered)to sound good in the digital realm is an art in and of itself...(ITS A PAAAIN)...

it's fairly easy to find a really good drummer willing to record him/herself.
...not to say that it wouldn't work... just more difficult than "just setting it up and letting the money roll in".

I see a lot more potential to make money doing what "beta monkey" does.
just search ebay. I've paid as much as $70 for a pro dbl cd of one hits and loops of real drums... (groove masters), and I'll pay $20 for semi-pro.

People will pay if you do the work (multi sample many layers/level of rim vs head/different sticks) and document what you recorded with (mics/drumheads/drum/tempo)...

cd's cost next to nothing... so it's mostly profit once the work is done.
Seriously, let me know if you do this... if you have a nice kit - and can lay down a solid groove... I'll be your first customer.
