Check out my player. My friend Johnny from Mango Pie sang on "Neon Black Despair" and "Iraq and a Hard Place" last night. The tracks still need to be mixed and mastered. Thanks for listening!

Sounding good for raw tracks. Something on the vocals will help.

Good job. Like the lyrical content, too.

Thank you sir. I agree with the vocal effects, probably use sans amp for the chorus on "Iraq", tons on delay for "Neon".

Jimmy,

I think I liked the vocals on the Iraq song the way you had them the first time, I just thought the megaphone effect went too far, but now I just cant make up my mind. Maybe a little of both would be good. The first vocals use the megaphone and then gradually uncover the vocals so they are clearer to hear. The first verse is saying Im sorry I joined, kinda jumps out, if you megaphone it its not as clear, then maybe later in the song take it off so the listner can say I thought thats what he said.

Im rambling, you can see I have major issues when it comes to mixing and finishing songs. Dont give John too many choices.

Neon sounds great on guitar. I love the Soundgarden riff in the middle followed by those harmony guitar runs. Im on the same page with you there. Thats just about as pefect as the middle of this song could be.

Vocals, well personally I wish you could get Ronnie James Dio to lay those on, In my mind I just hear a singer with more grit in his voice for this song. The vocals sound good in pitch and all but I just hear a meaner sounding singer in my head. Thats just what I imagined before I heard vocals. Maybe like you said some massive delay, touch of verb and maybe kind of an analog chorus on the vocals might get more of the timbre of what Im talking about. You might want the vocals to kind of fall back into the mix some.

Just take what I said as my 2 cents. I really like both songs and really appreciate your writing ability and guitar chops. When you get these mixed please repost them, I want to hear how they turn out.

Thanks John, I really appreciate the feedback. John is not the ultimate voice I hear for the songs but he's a lot better than me. Finding a metal vocalist who can actually sing isn't easy and would probably make the difference between a good song and a great recording.
