My amps are making a popping sound when I turn my bass up half way or just alittle less than half way. The poping sound doesn't pop when it is all the way up or if i tyrn the treble on the bass its a Peavey Zodiac bass could it be the cord that is hooking the guitar and amp its that small diameter cord. Please tell me what it is thanks. The popping sound is not loud though.

Popping is usually indicitave of a short, the sound being created by the electrical arc in said short. Try a better cord first, then investigate the possability of the short being in the amp or instrument.

Hey ,

It could be capacitor....I had a bass amp I was using for a BD monitor that was poppin intermittently and on certain notes played by a bass gtr........Expose your brain, look between the pots, you "may" see a capactor wired between the mids and treble, bass and mids, etc...Take your finger and tap on it while everything is hooked up and volume is up...If it makes that noise, look at its specs and get another one and wire it in... Yeah, like the San Man said , get 2 GOOD SHEILDED cords and go back and forth seeing if both sets do it,..Mix and match also...Check your GNDs' too..Some times this time of yr when its dry, static electricity will build up on YOU and cause your plastic pickguard to get excited and cause popping...

Let us know what ya find...
