Where Southern Rock is concerned, there couldn't be a much better compliment. We had a MySpace comment from Jimmie Van Zant today, signed by him, and saying he liked Southern Mischief's sound!
Yes, it is from the OFFICIAL Jimmie Van Zant MySpace profile page!
I'm pretty stoked.
We have had FORMER members of famous bands, a former bass player from Molly Hatchet for example, tell us we were really good, but not a currently famous figure. Jimmie, cousin to the Van Zant brothers, is often compared to Ronnie Van Zant of Skynyrd, because he looks and sounds more like Ronnie, than Ronnie's brothers do. He has been rising to national fame over the last several years, and for him to leave a comment for my band, is pretty friggin' awesome!
I'll be playing our Battle of the Bands tonight, with some extra fire!
Hell yeah!!!

Hell Craig,
Doesn't surprise me one bit that Jimmie approves of the Mischievous ones. I've been a fan since I first heard Ya'll!
Rock Hard Tonight!

That's a cool feeling Craig!! Thas funny you bring up Molly Hatchet's bass player. I was playing with a band named Sprit Canyon at Jefferson City's Fair in the beer tent. Molly Hatchet on the main stage when they were done. He came over to the beer tent, listend to a couple songs then asked our bass player if he could get up and play.

We were beside's our self's and of corse said come on up we rocked it out for 2 songs and away he went..I do not remember his name it was allmost a blurrr because it happend so fast but it was Awsom..
But i can relate to you thread::Way cool

"The check is in the mail". LOL
But seriously, did you have to get someone elses' opinion to realize that, Craig?

You definitely pegged that wrong. Having confidence doesn't mean you aren't still pleased with praise, or don't appreciate affirmations from respected peers. Nowhere did I say "I thought we sucked, until Jimmie Van Zant told us otherwise."
Audience applause and excitement, is the same thing. You may know that you put on a good show, but you still appreciate the affirmation from the crowd, that they thought so too.
btw...
In case anyone was interested, we won the first round of the battle of the bands we played in tonight! One of the bands didn't show up, and we got to play an hour instead of 30 minutes, at the organizer's request. We had alot of fun, and the crowd went pretty crazy for us.
Thanks for the kind words everyone!
It's always fuel, to be appreciated by those you respect!

Craig, great man, I am glad you got that compliment from such a star, that rocks. I would faint, lol. I do not know much about Jimmie Van Zant, but I have heard his name around. But that still rocks, I would be very happy. It would be like me getting a compliment from Dave Mustaine, lol.
So yeah, I am not shocked you won the first round, you guys are awesome! I hope to one day get to see you guys perform.
Good luck and keep rocking!
Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Look at it from the other side of the coin. If Jimmy had walked over and told you, "You guys suck ass." You would have ignored him, right?
You knew you had something good. You don't need validation from anyone.
Awesome Craig!!
