I was 12 (1968) when I got an Espana copy of a Gibson 335. I ran it through a Marsland solid state P.A. head through a 1X12 speaker cabinet my dad made.

First guitar: Sunburst Teisco (1970?)
First amp: 1969 Marshall Plexi (1975?)

Fender Music Master Bass and a Peavey TNT 100 amp.

Guitar was a Silvertone Strat copy and a Kustom amp, one of those that looked like a beat up couch. I just remember it was loud!

A First Act, and I still have it! The amp and guitar are both First Act. What a horror my life is.

I will be ugrading, and when I do I will have the best gear ever! (In my dreams that is, lmao).

I am still trying to save up money to buy some new gear, I have a bunch of stuff in mind anyhow. So that will be fun. It will be cool to share some audio on here anyhow.

Back in 69 I was in a band (The Sound Spectrum) with two lead guitar players and two keyboard players , myself and a younger kid who I regarded as better then me. We were a pretty tight band for a six piece, both as friends and band-mates. The other keyboardist decided to give me his dads old "Fender Music-master". I couldn't accept such a gift outright so I gave him twenty bucks for it! I since gave it to my son (and bass player) Ry, in return for a Yamaha synth. My current guitar is an other early 60's Fender. It's a "Mustang" with an awsome (stays in tune) factory "Whammy bar". My wife found it at a Salvation Army store and bought it for fifteen dollars!
I got my first amp , Fender "black panel" Super-Reverb, from my 14 year old guitar player "Fuzz Box Billy". Some decades later, I sold it to Cesar Diez for a hundred bucks. Ya win some, Ya lose some!

Guitar - Electra Workingman. Japanese made. I got it for $150 at a pawn shop. I've seen these going on Ebay for around $400 That was a great guitar. Really.

Amp - 1982 or 1983 Fender Champ II. It was a Paul Rivera design from when he was with Fender. The tone this little thing had was sweet. I got this amp at the same pawn shop where I got the Electra and paid $150 for the amp as well. I've seen these on Ebay for upwards of $700.

Got the the same day back when I was 15. (1987 I think) In both cases, I didn't know what I had until I had parted with them. *Sigh*

Well since that is the case maybe you know about Peavey guitars. I found this used guitar called a Peavey VandenBurg. You know anything about it? Or do any of you? I hear it was a good guitar at one time.

Hmm... Yeah, just not my style, lol. I like the look of this VandenBerg, it is cool looking, nice lines. Oh well, I guess goes on the continuous search for a guitar.

Eek! That vanderburg is ugly! I doon't like the "pointy" guitars. Glad I'm in the minority on my tastes. It makes everything cheaper for me.

my first guitar was a second hand honer "marlin" strat and a 50 watt beast of an amp that was the size of a small car that was made by "K" ?? ive never seen one since......

with a gorilla amp.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, butter-nife tremolo complete with up top spring tensioner. two of the most microphonic pickups in the history of mankind... plastic capped tuning machines... dual position pickup selectors...
the list of features goes on and on...

First guitar - Silvertone acoustic, probably made by Harmony, tobacco sunburst.

First electric giutar - no name japanese single pickup Jaguar-ish looking thing, most likely a Teisco with no label. They made lots (kingston too) anybody could slap a decal on and call their own guitar.

Amp was built into a record player that apparently came with it, but I never got to use it except when everyone was gone, no matter how quiet I tried to play it I was ordered to turn the "noise" off. My father didn't like rock at all and if he could hear it at all it was way too loud...I even got screamed at for playing with NO amp...but I played anyway...

no, it wasn't fun...

Peavey Vandenberg -

Designed for Adrian Vandenberg as a signature model while he played for Whitesnake. Mid to late 80's I think. Should be a decent to good guitar, I never played one but that's about the time Peavey started making some good guitars, the earlier ones didn't impress me much. They played great, really skinny necks, but had some of the wimpiest pickups I've ever heard. The Vandenberg was produced about the same time as my '85 Patriot, my guitar has a great neck and some excellent pickups. The one thing I didn't like about the Vandenberg was the angled headstock, when the strings spread like that it's impossible to keep the guitar in tune without a locking nut. Google for "Peavey Vandenberg" then click the "Images" link, quite a few pics of it but most of the pages are in foreign languages.
