Okay everyone, I figured it is time I post a new topic. So I came up with a simple question (As seen in the subject bar), what is your dream guitar, bass, drum set, etc...? Is there any model you have that you specifically want or is there something you would like to have custom made?

I figured this would be a fascinating topic. So here are my dream guitars:

1. ESP M1000, it has EMG pickups, and a Floyd Rose tremolo. It is transparent black and has a reversed headstock. I played it that one time and could not adjust to it, but I was having a bad day that day, thus I do not count this, lol. I will go back for another shot.

2. ESP FX260, I really like the look of this guitar. It has a very Middle Eastern appeal in my opinion.

3. Any kind of Fender Stratocaster someday.

4. Probably one of the guitars I want more than anything is a 1972 Thinline Telecaster. I have wanted this ever since I saw Jonny Buckland (Coldplay's lead guitarist) use it during a live performance of "Rush Of Blood To The Head."

5. Finally, I would like to custom make an ESP guitar. Use probably the KH2 body and add a creepy image to it. I would like EMG pickups in it, probably what Kirk Hammett uses, the EMG 81 in the bridge and EMG 85 in the neck. I would want the inlays to be glow in the dark, or have some kind of built in light mechanism (If possible). I would want them to glow like a bright powder blue.

So that is all, those are my dream guitars.

I have a wurlitzer butterfly baby grand (Ray Charles - "baby what I say", queen - "best friend") but i can't gig with it. It's to beautiful and impractical to gig with.


What I want is the gigging model of it - the 200A.

A Young Chang baby grand with built in Neuman mics -

And a triplett 36 string wire Irish lowhead harp.

I don't ask for much, do I.

A new Steinway Grand would be nice ,but because I am poor, I would be content with a "tune up"for my 100 year old "Weber" upright. It still sounds great!

I hate the action on a Steinway. Too sticky, its like taking a mallet to each key to get a decent attack. They are overhyped, in my opinion. If I couldnt get the Young Chang, I'd happily go with a Bosendorfer with the added five notes on the bottom end.

Solid walnut body and neck, active electronics, gold hardware. I play on this now and I'm putting it in my will I want to be buried with it (with my Mepps spinners and Innova Star Skeeter). Later...

Thanks for debunking "the big guy". Now I'm totally content with the "Weber" , (Young Chang makes them nowadays)

I think you are obsessed with that instrument... I am not sure I would want to be buried with an instrument, lol. Altough give me a vintage Thinline Telecaster and you might as well shoot me to take it away.

No problem, this is just one of those "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" moments. Steinway has become the sacred cow to pianists and the classical scene and for the life of me I can't figure out why.

I've been thinking about your comments about certain instruments being "over-rated, and recalled the first time I played a Martin Guitar. It fingered terrible! True,In not much of a guitarist myself, but when I "noodle around" with my old Fender Mustang, it feels comfortable in my hands.
In all fairness to Martin,I've heard a lot of great music come out of them ol' Pennsylvanian "Git-fiddles"!

My dream instrument is my Les Paul and my old Sunn Model T head and Laney cab. Ive never played another guitar that plays as well to me. I cant use the amp cause its too loud and impractical.

Pianos of the highest caliber, differ greatly between models, so there are great pianos to be found among all of these. Steinway however, is, and has been for a very long time, the maker of the best pianos in the world.

From Wikipedia:

"According to Steinway & Sons, 98% of piano soloists chose to play publicly on a Steinway during the 2005–2006 North American concert season."

Steinway, to be sure, has some tactics like Microsoft, when it comes to monopolizing their brand, but even still, that number "98%" speaks volumes to me.

It represents more than "hype" it seems to me.

My mother, incidentally, has what I guess you would call a mid-size grand from Steinway, which she is selling...
