I recorded a cover of Black Sabbath's "Into The Void" Friday night. This is just the board mix with my scratch vocals, final vocals and solos yet to be added. I also recorded a new original "Medium Rare" which needs lots of work but you get the idea. Both songs are on my profile's player.

Okay, honest opinion time! The Black Sabbath cover ("Into the void") was good as far as the music is concerned, my only problem with it is it was not sharp enough (Iommi has a lot of tone on his guitar, very sharp sounding -- he may also have different pickups). As far as the vocals go, considering Ozzy has such different vocals, I was not fond of yours (Assuming that is you singing) on this. Not that your voice is bad, it just does not go with Sabbath in my opinion. No offense, man.

As for "Medium Rare," this one I like a lot. Awesome heavy beat to it, very good for soloing. I can like hear 50 different solos in my head that I would put to this. Awesome piece here, man.

Keep writing, you have a lot of talent. Like I have said to others before, it is rare to find that kind of talent nowadays.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Hey thanks man. Yeah I'm no Ozzie, I just did those vox a guide, I have a real singer that will hopefully nail it. And again, this is straight from the board, after I add the solos and mix and master it will sound a lot better.

No problem, man. Yeah, once the final mixes are done it will sound a lot better, let me know I would like to hear them. You cannot always tell how good a song will be till it is completely finished.

The real singer you have to nail this piece better have a strong voice, lol. Ozzy I would not call a brilliant singer (Like some kind of opera singer), but he has a hollow strong voice, if you know what I mean. Well, I wish you luck, man.

Keep on rocking!

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Jimmie,
Just gave "in the void" a listen.Sounds good to me,scratch vocals and all.
I'd boost the bass a bit.
I'm curious about the drums,...sounds great! Programmed or real?

I must admit that I never was a devote of "Sabbath",but for some reason I could never part with my two vynle albums.

My son "Ry" bestowed upon me his old casset collection which included a "Faith No More" album. I often play it in the pickup ,which still contains a bitchin' tape player. My favorite cut off the album is an awsome version of "War Pigs".

As much as I've wanted to "get over" Sabbath I never have. They still get my blood moving. The guitar tone sounds pretty good to me. It has a rich stereo thing going on. Pretty tight version. Bass could be bumped a bit like HowlinJ' said. Vox are ok. I'd like to hear your "real singers" take. Post it next!

not to bad at all jimmy...
the first tune "medium rare" sounds ok to me but its always hard to judge a tune without vocals,as for the mix i think the overhead kit mics and the hi-hats are way to loud and overpowering and the bass needs to pumped up alot more but the guitars and the kit sound fine.

"in the void" sounds ok, agin the bass needs to be pumped up and the vocals(i know there just temporary) are just not strong enough to kick it
but its very hard to try and sing like ozzy due to the nasal whine that he uses when singing. but as a cover it all works, you would be safe to play it anywhere(provided your singer can sing like ozzy and i havent heard many who can,but lots who think they can)..good job

Thanks for your opinions my musical brothers! That's just what I needed to hear. The engineer is also a bass player (www.myspace.com/sendmorecops) so the bass will be rocking in the mix lol. Neither song was mixed, just raw tracks, so if I get some decent vocals they should turn out good. I will post new audio as they evolve. Thanks again!

HowlinJ, the drummer's name is Bill Gyncott, great musician. We never rehearse, he just comes into the studio and lays it down.

Thanks JW. I wish some of you hot shots lived in my area, I'd invite you all out to lay down some leads. I like playing lead, but I really like laying down the solid rhythms. Rock On!

New audio is up for "Into The Void" and "Medium Rare". Both have new leads and louder bass.
