After winning the semi-finals, we are playing a Battle of the Bands Finals tomorrow at The Loft in Atlanta. But we are also in the Finals to win a $10,000 Music Video of one of our songs, from an up and coming music site "Best of Bands" which have also just started a music magazine. We had already known that the VP for that company is flying down from New York to catch our show tomorrow night at The Loft, but we just found out something else...

A fan of our music, has a friend who is a highly placed rep at a major label. She just told us tonight, that this rep is coming to see our show tomorrow night.

Also...

The owner of the recording studio we record at is also coming. Some of his artists have been nominated for Grammies, and he's produced some albums which have gone multi-platinum.

So, I don't know what stars have aligned or why, but there will be a lot of industry people there to see us perform tomorrow.

Wish us well. We are really hoping this will help bring us to the next level.

Happy New Years to you guys and your families!

I wish you the best of luck and I hope it really does work out. Throughout your posts I can feel the hunger in your heart to really make this project work and there's nothing more exciting than the trials and tribulations that a band has to endure on the way up! Once you've hit the plateau that you're striving to get at, don't forget how hard it was to get there. That thought will always keep your feet on the ground instead of your head in the clouds!

Craig Maxim,
Hey, it's pretty nice when things go right, for a change, eh?
Hope you've got all your demos recorded, and lyrics and stuff all printed up, and your agents and lawyers on call and all.
:)
Here's hoping, guy . . .
.
.
But . . .
. . . once you're rich and famous, will you still remember us all?
:)

Thanks guys, for the kind words and comments.

We didn't win the finals, which unfortunately was selected by crowd response. We were in the running, with about 50 fans there showing support, but the winning band had 150 people, which made the meters soar. Unfortunaely the label rep didn't make the gig either, which, with those guys, it is always hit and miss. Ultimately that could be a good thing... read my post on "The New Gold Rush"

The good....

In addition to our fans in Georgia that came, we had fans drive in from Alabama, and a VP from an important music site in New York flew down to catch our show. While there, she told me that her company is helping sponsor the 2009 Grammys.

We were rewarded with many new fans, including the bands we were competing with, many of which told us they were new fans of ours now, some of which also started throwing gig opportunities at us, saying THEY would open for US. That was an honor.

But the biggest compliment came from the NY VP.

A 20 year veteran of the music business, having worked at major record labels before embarking on this new project, she told us that she teared up on several of our songs. She said that building her company up has required 18 and 19 hour days, usually 7 days a week, to achieve the success they are experiencing now. She said that spending that much time on the business end of music can make you forget why you started doing it all in the first place. She told us that seeing our performance, reminded her why she does it, and that she was going back to NY renewed and with a new fire. She thanked us for reminding her why she got involved in the music business in the first place. Wow. High praise. And I thanked her right back, telling her that her comments of appreciation had given me fuel myself, to continue on and give my best in getting our original music recorded and put out there.

Our performance reminded her of why she does what she does, but her comments reminded me of why I do what I do. I write music to connect. I want it to mean something to people. To move them in some way. To inspire them. To help them. To fill a void, to help them grow. To make a difference in their lives.

It helped make a difference in hers. And I consider that a personal definition of success for me.

Thanks again for the kind words. We made alot of new fans and contacts, with even the sound guys telling us that we rocked the place, and they wanted to see us back at The Loft again.

I think some good things are developing from this. I appreciate the positive vibes of support from you guys!

Well, that is sad, Craig Maxim, that your band did not win. However, those were kind words from that woman to you. Those words can be highly inspirational. Even if you fail something once in life you should always persevere a second, third, or even fourth time. Keep making music, man.

Music needs to be meaningful in this world and many people do not understand that. Good luck with all of your music ventures.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

We're counting on 2008 being a break-out year for us. We have alot of things in the works, and we've accomplished alot already in only 10 months together.
