I'm sure I'm not the only person with this problem but finding dedicated committed musicians is like looking for that pot of gold. It hasn't been easy keeping a band togther. This will be my fourth try in as many years. So far so good with only limited practice day no-shows. We have a new drummer moving up from Texas next month. Here's one of our songs without vocals we recorded at our last practice if anyone cares to listen.

I listened to the new song man, not bad, I like it somewhat. I mean I would change some things around, the beginning of the solo is strange. But I like when it goes into wah. Also, the other guitar, bass, and drums, are drowning out the solo guitar, it needs more room to breathe so to speak.

Good luck man with getting your band together.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Oh, I hear you on the band thing. We've discussed this before here, and have pretty much hit a consensus that there a few reasons it nearly takes an act of God to even find members for your act, let alone keep them together. One of the biggest reasons is our Do It Yourself age and the assisting sophistication and availability of recording technology. Another one is the widening array of genres, which means people can be more specific and choosey about what they want to do musically. "Compromise" in both artistic vision and effort is not really in the current lexicon.

But best of luck to you anyway. I've been holding my fragile act here together for several months so I keep my fingers crossed every day that they won't fragment.

Yes, I did. I try to be thorough before I give someone a critique that they asked for. And I stand by my comments. I am more impressed by music than noisemaking.

Happy Yule.

Well now, this is starting to go in a weird direction. The post was about frustration in finding dedicated musicians when trying to start a band. I guess I made a mistake when I posted a link to one of our jam sessions that we recorded. Irminsul, noisemaking is in the ear of the beholder I guess. Take care my friend!

i listened to tracks 1, 4, and 5 and am convinced that over christmas i should destroy my guitar, bass, and other meager equipment because im wasting my time with 21 year olds like this guy who can play circles around me.

Those beers i had earlyer are starting to wear off so I listened to Mikes songs again. They sound just as good sober.I'm most impressed with the musicianship.
Irminsuls comments stayed "on topic"and, in my opinion, are right on the mark.Had I been a bit more clearheaded I would have realized that it was not he who was being ,again in my opinion, hypercritical.Sorry about that Irmy.

Seriously Mike,it should be obvious to anyone with ears that your an exceptional player.Being only 21 years of age,you have a long road ahead of you.You should be an inspiration,as well as a "reality check"to a lot of aspiring players young and old.

OK WHOA I owe you a big apology. I posted that response to the wrong thread! I was talking about another user's audio clips, not yours.

My sincere apologies.

Mike, your material sounds very professional and big league. At your age, with some connections, and a singer you should get somewhere. Keep it up my man.

Thanks for the kind comments guys! Irminsul, no reason to apologize mistake or not. This post was not meant to ask for critiques but I appreciate them anyway good or bad. Anyway, I hope this band last a little longer than the last one. Thanks again!
