I was just skimming some of the prior posts and it looks like a lot of folks are in the same position as me. I'm an experienced songwriter/guitarist who is looking for anyone in the Savannah area to start something serious. I'm not into thrash/hardcore/rap, but I wouldn't mind doing some heavier material. My main influences are McCartney, Guster, Matthew Sweet, Foo Fighters, Cheap Trick....and so on. I'm a teacher so I have a lot of free time over the summer to practice/gig, so let me know if you're interested! Good luck, everyone, with your groups as well.
WHY ARENT THERE ANY PEOPLE LIKE YOU IN MIDLAND??

Yeah,
i tell you, if I had a dime for every "musician" in Savannah that I've met who is into HARDCORE/Thrash/metal, I could BUY me an entire band for a year. My musical tastes seem to be dated, but I don't care. I just can't play that stuff and I certainly can't write it. What happened to all the Petty/Beatles/Matthew Sweet fans who are now trying to emulate that same great sound? Everyone's into stuff I can't stand!! WOOF WOOF!!

I guess "oldies" DO rock, but there's a lot of great talent out there (DUE to the Beatles) right now. Guster is fantastic. The Shore, Foo Fighters, Rooney, Jet....the list goes on and on. My point was that folks in my area gravitate to one specific sound, or at least the musicians I hook up with...

I'm a keyboard player in the Savannah, Georgia area, and I like the older music. Can't handle heavy or punk stuff. Give me some old Beatles or beach music or Patsy Cline or George Jones or Motown... anybody on here old enough to remember that good ole stuff?

Beatles I like. Don't know about Beach musak, though. Patsy Cline I respect but never want to play. I write my own stuff and I think it's pretty good, but can't get anyone to play with, know what I mean? Savannah sucks as far as music and SCAD is one fat reason why...
