Jahva, I am playing so many cover gigs between a full time job and gigging I don't have time to write or finish writing recording originals. Maybe over Christmas break I will have more time. Meanwhile now here is a pic of the guitar!

Mr. Haley - re strings

My Firebird came with 10s and I immediately switched them out. I had plenty of time to regret doing it. After three setups and much heartache I put the 10s back on it and it settled down immediately and stays in tune just fine. I really can't tell the difference anymore because the action is so nice.

Mike I was hoping someone would chime in on this. I was thinking if it is setup with 10s putting 9s on would most likely cause fret buzz. I played the crap out of this thing today and the 10s are fine. Gonna do lots of research on this before I change to 9s if I Change!

I think 10s would be right for an LP style guitar. 9s (or even 8s) are best with long scale Fenders.

Yeah totally agree on the 10's... I switched from 9's few years ago.Heavier gauge makes you work a bit more at first but you adjust to em. if I pick up a git with 9's they feel like sewing thread...

When I got my Epi Dot Studio (used) the strings were old so I put on my usual 9s. Could not get that thing to intonate at all, specially the G string. then I did some reading, and put on a set of 13s with a wound G string (026), made all the difference in the world for intonation. Of course you don't play it like a Fender with 9s, either.

Lol, 2 step bends. 52-10 on Fender scale length and 56-11 on Gibson scale length seems about right for me at minimum.

Yeah, I play heavy strings, tuned to D standard, so that should pretty much work for everyone on Earth, regardless of make, model, ability, genre....

I ran D standard in my last project. I've come down to the 52-10 (on six string). I used to run A# standard. Now I just use a 7 string in B standard. (still keep one six string in drop B with the heaviest strings that will fit through the nut) It does appear that one can get a 7 string LP, just not in the 100th anniversary trim unfortunately.

Never heard of 11-1/2s!

9s on my Tele (tuned standard all the time) and it plays like butter and I can do it for hours. Drop the low E to D and it's like a loose rubber band.
