Hey VB , Paleopete, Irminsul, and other OT likeness..LOL,

Jesus...Man where am I ?Is this still earth??? ...Why did you kids screw this place up? Analog multi track was working fine and has been for 80 years, WHY this new unpractical, no human element, common sense defying, time consuming, shitty sounding, way of doing things? Actually Im just venting alittle about my new experience with the Fostex MR16...Im having so much FUN...NOT... ...I shoulda kicked the bucket back in 94 when death was SO close... ..If I new this was the future, it woulda been a blessing...OK , enuff already, HAS ANYONE ever hooked up an EXT. EFF pprocessor to these new digital recorders?...This MR16 has no AUX loop? ...Just has AUX out...The insert provided in the Channel A input is supposed to be used for the EFF send and return BUT, ya have to have a TRS Y cable and the loop is done through the strero connection inside the jack wiring...WELL, OK...SO , I hook up a old style stero IN ,2 MONO out plug and run the 2 mono's to the IN and OUT respectively to the processsor...STILL NO SIGNAL...Thats the same as this damn new fangled TRS cable ...right?.....If anyone has this damn machine or one kinda like it, please advice me on the best way to hook a EXT. processor ...

Pretty soon , a EFFin commode will be digital,..you have to program it before it will open...I will have already ....sh*t MY PANTS>>>

John. Relax. BREATHE....

I really have to disagree with you about analogue. I am SOOO happy that I don't have screw with tape, mangling it, splicing it, threading it, having to shell out huge bucks for a two inch mastering set up, on and on...digital has put FAR superior sound quality and recordability into the hands of more people. I would never go back.

Now there is a back and forth about the analog "warmth" preferred to the crispness of digital, but digital is improving all the time, and to be honest I have played lots of shows where we used prerecorded subsonic sounds on DAT tape (digital audio tape) and it really rumbled the rafters. Really did the trick.

There are some things gone that I truly miss in this world....but analogue tape aint one of them.

Hiya KIDD

Ok firstly have you checked none of the connections/cables are faulty?
The other thing is, if you are not used to this kind of equipment, rather than give yourself a headache, wouldn't it be better just using the built-in digital FX for now just to familiarise yourself with it???

Or just purchase a TRS Y cable ;-)

First try reversing the 2 MONO inputs on the fx unit. (swap) If still not working....
Can you plug the male 1/4" end into a headphone jack from a stereo and plug the 2 mono ends into 2 seperate tracks on your recorder and get signal to both tracks?
If not you have a bad cable.
TRS has been around for a long time. Way before digital.

Hey Gang,

Yeah , I know TRS has been with us since the 50's BUT....Never have I seen a cable with only 3 ends create a loop.... :? ...I understand how it does it, but damn..Thats like me puttin my right foot up on a stump to tie my shoe, then tying my left...??? Why does a man have nipples and no tits....does a plummer put a faucet on the wall when theres no pipe?.Whats the difference between an orange?...Get where Im going??LOL....I did everything you mentioned Tukerhill and like I say , NUFFIN..
Im gonna whip this bitch though, you watch....I got one up on her last nite by runnin the loop thru an old cassette multi tracker, then using IT to effect and EQ the signal before she even goes DIGGY... ...it helps in warmin my SQ1, (yeah , thats right a SEQ. from 89..LOL) before she goes in too.Actually after trackin most of the nite with the chick that owns it, Im impressed with the 60's tube amp distortion on her...Shes still quirky though about her parameters..Some are default , while others are readily editable...Im learnin though...More readin , more cussin , Ill get it...Thanks gang for gettin back with me..
