I don't know, but it would be awesome if there was a way because I'm trying to start a band and I'm looking for a way to contact people and this website doesn't seem to have any means of doing this
That's how this site makes money - getting people to subscribe (for at least a month) so they can contact others.

I fully understand and acknowledge this.
Now how do I get around it?!

The greedy phucks who run this site want all the money they get. I hope reverbnation runs this place into the ground and the domain gets bought up by a porn site!!
Bandmix porn site: pictures of gear you want but can't afford.
Guys, I'm a premium member and I can't contact them either. So few respond for whatever reasons.
Putting a band together of mercenaries only works if money is involved. Choosing random people from an internet site is more than a crapshoot, because there are so many different expectations for jamming. I have communicated with a lot of locals (within an hour's drive) through this site, but it's really tough to find the right situation that works for everybody involved.
You have to keep working it and eventually someone knows someone else who might have a friend looking that would work out for a little while after a lot of practice.
Do I sound bitter? haha. I'm not, just realistic. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

really man? I thought reverbnation sucked. My situation is different though. I don't want them to brand their name on everything I do. It screams local if you ask me, but you didn't so....I'll just say there's a wealth in variety and this place has it's advantages.
Personally, I love bandmix over any/all of them. These guys let it fly and they don't get into your business about it. This is THE last remaining discussion board that is totally self-governed. I mean, I'm not sure what you have to do to get contacted from a moderator here? It gets ugly too much lately but at least it's honest and you know who the uglies are by their own declaration.
So...to each his own. Just saying I like bandmix over RN and voted with my wallet.

Just like everyone else....but since I'm the only person in the conversation who actually IS a premium member, my opinion is the only one which is "informed". Take it or leave it, I don't care.

I mostly agree with your opinion. I am a premium member also. Have had the same experience with contacting people. I think that not only should premium folks be able to contact others but that anyone should be able to initiate contact with a premium member. That would allow more of the interaction that gives CL a leg up to happen here on BM. I do come here to the forum regularly and it is amusing sometimes. Does ReverbNation even have a forum? Speaking of them, my ads over there never got me any results at all. To be fair about the branding thing, with a paid account over there I was able to do a website with a top level domain name. Yeah, it was within the parameters of their templates, but it was unbranded.
No, reverbnation doesn't offer a forum or 'musician wanted' ads. the free version offers a place to have your info (yes, 'branded', reverbnation.com/yournamehere) - videos linked, music hosted (no limits) and sold through RN if you wish, gig listings, ties to your facebook artist/band page, too.

When did music become more then getting high and jamming with your friends.
Come on it's like 30 dollars, I think, and they'll bargain
