Pulled the trigger yesterday originally a 700.00 amp now they are closing them out at 399.00 with free shipping..my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe was starting to fade in and out it is 22 years old..never could get a high gain growl out of it..great for clean sounds..the CUBE 40 is too cheesy sounding although it is a modeling amp and I suppose to be expected..think the Marshall will blow both out of the water..since I played one at local music store..as long as they don't ship me a dud

at that price I thought about buying several and leaving them sealed in box ( NIB) and when they appreciate back to 5 or 6 hundred in a couple three years, for NIB Marshall DSL40C then I would re-sell them ... but I chickened out..

$399 is a good price, assume that its being replaced by a newer model, hence the price cut. Amps these days seldom appreciate in value.

DSL40CR is the new improved version..40/20 watt switch no longer on back of cab..and might have addresses channel switching discrepancy which I think involved volume drop when switched channels? Nonetheless I think it's a deal and a half..Black Star HT40 might have been ok too..

Amps seldom appreciate? Don't know about that if it stays factory sealed in original box?..it would be NIB and we know what a G.I. Joe in original box brings even if it is a 1960s new in box action figure..the trick is never to open the box

DSL40C is a nice amp with legit British tone, enjoy!
The HRD would probably sell for $400 used in good condition if it had a fresh set of tubes. Fading in and out sounds like worn out 6L6. I gigged with one for 5 years and liked it a lot.

I got the fade problem fixed I think a long with that problem a sound like a big drop of water splashing with a reverbish sound would take place..I got some electronic contact cleaner spray and squirted some on presence pot and wiggled it back and forth probably a few dozen times and it seemed back to normal.. I kept it running never switched to standby and would go play a little every hour or so, and never did fade in and out again..over a several hours long period of time.. yes, Dave the salesman suggested $399.00 and I took his word as a starting point.. but you can buy a DSL40C for same price new? but the amps are marketed for two entirely different markets??.. that's what I've heard
