When my schedule allows I've been playing a few gigs with The Calvin Street Band on mandolin, one where i covered for the AWOL lead gtrst. They're really a fun bunch of guys with some very cool original material. Lead singer has a very interesting singing style and timbre to his voice.

Yes, very entertaining Mark! I'm sure once they see your mad talents they will keep you around even when the lead guitar comes back. I really like the way they are all playing weaving in and out not stepping on one another's parts. Sonically the instruments are spread out enough that would be hard to do. I really like how the fiddle player plays staying on the lower registers at times. Very good!

Thanks MT! In the words of James Taylor...."that's why I'm here".

Thanks for the props and vote of confidence, Jeff. I already "have the gig". The lead gtrst is back.....he just missed one gig last month that i covered for him on gtr. so, i'm strictly the mando guy. which is perfectly cool by me.

things do get a little "thick" on stage sometimes w all that going on, and though they do toss me plenty of solos....they really haven't adjusted there comping any to make room for one more comping instr. so it's a little bit of a challenge (but fun and one i enjoy) finding parts to play that work within that already very full stew.

the problem is that between my house band gig w THE 121's, gigs w PLANET JAZZ, MERE MORTALS Bluegrass Band, THE SPINCASTERS (rockabilly trio), and solo gtr gigs.....I don't have any weekends avail for 2018 unless it's a Sunday gig. or doubling up w an additional Sat afternoon gig. I have some spots during the week and when everything lines up....a gig for that band...and me being avail...i've got an open invite to play w them.
