New Musical Game

ok, this time instead of thinking harmonically with each of us coming up with some sort of chord sequence to play the game, we now switch to a melodic musical game, and we simply add a single note to the sequence in some sort of melodic fashion.. this should be interesting.. we could make it dark and foreboding, or we could come up with a cheerful and happy melody based on gaiety(LOL)..

I will start it off with a middle register A note.. in the key of A major..a D# added next would give it some very foreboding character? :D

and if I may ask, if not too much trouble, as you add your single note, please copy & npaste whatever sequence is already established onto your post to keep it organized.. maybe we could all come up with a end point? maybe after 20 notes? and then we could all proceed to giving each note a time value once we have 20 note melody established? just a thought.. :D

D# is not in the key of A ... just saying. Assuming the opening chords/background ARE in the key of A - typical start would be the I, IV, V (or a related minor chord), this would be a horrible note to start a melody on. Just my opinion, carry on!

it's a tritone...as far as interval (6 semi-tones) and called an accidental because as you say it would not be a natural or note within the key signature

A /Eb/ G/ D /G/Eb/ /A/ A would be a A7-5 add11 no 3rd run that you could lay on top of a A7-5 chord on keyboard or guitar

it does not have to be A for start, you guys start out whatever note you all want, maybe C and then go from there.. get diatonic or go chromatic. choose your weapons.. this will be fun! it is just another angle.. single note melody first and then we can (as planetguy says) slather, spray, slop, poop some chords on top the melody.. have fun! :D
