Sunday Sunday SUNDAY: racing and recording.

After a quick trip to Cape Cod this morning to check on my mom's house while she's wintering in Florida, I got home to watch the Daytona Clash race, then did about 3 hours of recording, finishing up the tracking with Daytona 500 qualifying (sound muted) on the tv.
Got a new MXL multi-pattern mic (cardiod, figure-8, omni) which I used for some side-by-side comparisons with my trusty AKG condensor. For $50, a decent investment, but probably wont' get a ton of use from it.

Going to miss the Daytona this year as we will be in Malibu. What model AKG and MXL are we talking about here?

AKG P220 (older model) has been my go-to condenser mic for a few years.
It's an MXL 2010 - which I think is discontinued, hence the great price I paid. I don't really have much use for Omni pattern, or even figure 8 (my room is not set up well for mid-side recording of acoustic), but another mic in the locker can't hurt.
On vocals the AKG has a very slight bump in the 1K-2K range, the MXL in the 5K-6K range, but on acoustic I couldn't tell any difference at all.
