I saw that guitar at the 'Art of the Guitar' special exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts 10+ years ago. That thing must one hell of a bracing system!

Maybe I'm slowly coming around to Metheny?.

that was trippy and yet relaxing. ahh.

Forgive me if I'm repeating my self (likely) but I told you my keyboard player, Pawel Zarecki, produced Pat Metheny in Warsaw, Poland? Pawel is the guy in the white shirt sitting above the band on the right in this live concert. He's also playing some keyboards.

But I'm a big fan of blues rock with a groove. I like this "intelligent" music but only for about an hour at a time, before I need to hear the crunch of a Marshall, or a rebel yell.

Here's some info on this guitar, Mike -

That's funny. After I wrote that last post, I clicked on this link and the first thing I see is a video of the same Warsaw concert where Pat Metheny is playing that lute guitar thingy.

This makes me anxious...can't wait for summer touring with Pawel (Miqedem) for a month in the east.

Ted

A Marshal and a rebel yell? That got my blood up!

I just hope it doesn't end like last night. I passed out on my knees, gazing at my bass and my guitar and trying feebly to make a decision!

1000 hours to make it! No info on the bracing, though.

Been a BIG Sco fan since the 90s, also Bill Frisell & Marc Ribot.

i got hipped to PM back around '79 or so from a drummer i used to play w when i was still living in NYC. that drummer really turned me on to a lot of great stuff that i hadn't paid much attention to....

Oregon, David Grisman, J L Ponty, and many more.

PM has a huge catalog ranging from fairly commercial and "accessible" music (his early stuff) to music that's a little more outside.

like him or not.....it's hard to make an argument that he can't play( or write ).

i've always dug how most of his stuff has a very Brazilian feel to it.

i hear ya.....i dig those other guys too. funny how they all cite Jim Hall as being their biggest influence! (i'm a HUUUUGE Jim Hall fan)

a cpl of wks ago we were talking about great upright players and i wanted to recommend Red Mitchell as someone you should check out if you're not already hip to him.

he was a KILLER player who was a great comper and rhythm section player but could also solo like a horn w "to die for tone".

he was one of the rare breed who tuned his bass in 5ths for extended range! (i've tried that....uh, no. thank you very much!)

there's a wonderful live album he did w Jim Hall that you should check out when you get a chance.....
