New collaboration

For me its difficult to just 'add tracks' to someone else's work, without a lot of 'back and forth', as my vision of the song can be very different from they were thinking of.
Much easier if I just take someone's lyrics and adapt them, which is what I did on this tune - lyrics by a guy on the musesongwriter forum. If I finish up the song as is, I'll need to retrack the vocals, these were comped from 9 separate takes.

That's a pretty good song Mike, but the lead guitar sound was pretty raunchy. Almost heading into digital clipping territory.

That's what I went for - a super hot tube-break up sound! No digital clipping, levels were kept reasonable

Got one of the guys on the songwriting forum to do the lyrics, edited the intro and redid the intro and outro acoustic guitars:

Scott is a very dynamic singer! I had to automate the vocal volumes plus add two compressors to his track!

Another collaboration I recently worked on - some of you may remember Tammy who used to come here (until all the testosterone drove her off). She's the co-facilitator of the Songwriter Circle we have every month. She asked me to add some instruments and mix a song she had started:

When she has posted the song on forums (and facebook) she has credited me. I don't give a FF about soundcloud.

That FF was almost Glenny territory.

Soundcloud rules! :P

People steal your streams (and dreams) from soundcloud, more than other sites.

Nice tune Mike. The rhythm section sounds solid, the lead vocals are just excellent. BG vocals seem a bit lost in the mix. I have some ideas on this one if you are interested in Ver 3.0. Pull out the lead guitar track and let me explore this one a bit. I think I got some tasty gravy for your most excellent meat and potatoes. 8)

Thanks, as a collaboration starting with the lyrics from another writer, I'm done with this one. Working collaborations is not my principle focus, its just fun to do every once in a while to get out of my 'comfort zone'.
