it bugs me when I am listening to a great album, or even a mediocre sound recording, by maybe a semi-famous celebrity level group of musicians, and when I hear guitarists playing brilliant musical passages, and I am wondering is that really so and so playing that or is that a hired gun a studio session player playing that? I wonder why albums and CD's and the like are not more focused about the credits on each tune, actually detailing who played what on each tune.. guess it does not matter that much, but it has always bugged me, say listening to Gaucho by Steely Dan wondering who was playing lead guitar on "Time Out of Mind" was it Becker? was it Lee Ritenour? who was it?

Fagen and Becker hired Mark Knopfler to play the guitar solo on "Time Out of Mind" after hearing him play on Dire Straits' hit single "Sultans of Swing". Several hours of Knopfler's playing were recorded at the session, but his contributions as heard on the record are limited to a matter of seconds.

I have the album with that song in it. That is one of my favorites. It reminds me of a laid back Don Williams style song presentation. Thanks for posting the link.
