cool beans. i've been lucky enough to work w some really good keyboardists. and in the hands of someone that can play... AND has good taste.... and the right temperament......it sure can be a great addition.

i sometimes think i'd like to have a harmony instr (keys or gtr) to flesh things out when Planet Jazz plays three piece and i'm on vibes....but i'd sure hate to get someone that fills things up TOO much. these days i actually prefer a gtrst over a keyboardist playing behind vibes.

i guess i'd welcome either if it was the right player.....so, Jook....DP....when are you guys moving to MID-MO??? 8)

my parents aren't any spring chickens either so i know exactly what you mean ......and they're still in NYC.
somehow they found a loophole in the law that requires all NYC Jews in their 80's to relocate to Miami or Boca Raton! :D

your folks are lucky to have you close by.

hey, if nothing else....we can have some fun laying down some tracks when you're out this way. 8)

well, our fourth part time member (he's a Midwest Snowbird who spends cold weather mos Nov - Apr here in MO and then he's gone up to WI for the rest of the yr).....he's that kind of mult-instrumentalist.

in addition to clarinet, soprano/alto/tenor/baritone saxes, he also plays gtr and keyboards. but more often than not when he's schlepping two or three saxes and a clarinet.....he usually leaves the gtr and keys home. sometimes we'll have gigs where we need more of a "Nawlins" kind of vibe and he brings the keys for the Professor Longhair piano stuff and to play zydeco "accordion".

i don't have any video of him on gtr or keys but here he is on his main horn...bari on Oliver Nelson's "Stolen Moments"

So is this guy a "one trick pony"?

What sounds on keyboard are you looking to record.
Piano
Hammond
Moog
