...just ONE more!

I was back East visiting the folks and I found this guy just down the rd from my folks who had a '94 GUILD F5 CE for sale .... long story short we ended up doing a "trial offer" trade.

We swapped his gtr for my '96 tele w the understanding that when the mrs and I are back next yr .... we'd then decide whether to finalize the deal. If either of us wants our gtrs back... that's what we do!!!

Pretty cool huh? This Guild is a real sweet player w gorgeous rosewood back and sides. It's got a cutaway w great access to the entire fingerboard and a four band Fishman preamp and p/u setup.

Sounds great plugged in, and acoustically it's got an interesting thing going on tonewise w it's shallower (front to back) body that makes it sound ...well.... a little on the thin side....but that's offset by the warm bass tone of solid rosewood back and sides. it's pretty easy to get lost in the grain on it's back....it really is striking.

downside....like my '75 Guild D50...it's got a narrow 1 5/8" nut. i'm gonna have to put my fat fingers on a diet!

That's a gorgeous piece of wood.
I would be interested in hearing the bottom end myself.
What gauge you going with??

funny you should ask. previous owner is an elec guy and he had super duper light ga strings on it. i'm guessing like maybe 10-48!!!! yikes.

i've got a set of 12-53 PH bronze on there now. i dunno....i might get silly w it after awhile and put a set of Gypsy Jazz strings on it to have a gypsy gtr set up w a more manageable 25 1/2" scale length. afterall....i mean, hey......this Guild DOES have an oval sound hole!

Sounds like you have a truss rod adjustment going down??

huh? :?: :?:

doyou mean his possible motivation for using the light gauge strings???

nah...i checked the truss rod out before we shook hands on the deal. and after installing the heavier strings i tightened it up just a little to keep the relief almost straight. all systems are go.
