I would expect that remark from Glenny or Ted.
Needless to say, this is my preference when I can find it-

"Wow, Bill!!! I can finally hear your bass since you got the amp off the floor"??

BTW- why ya got that Deluxe sittin' on the floor??

we'd had a pretty good rainstorm as i was loading in. i got soaked. there was some water coming in over on Bill's side of the stage so he put his amp on a chair to get it away from the water on that side of the stage!

my Deluxe? i almost ALWAYS have my amp on the floor/ground. (bass player mentality). because...

1. the places we're playing at aren't big enough where i'm worried about throwing to the back of the room. if they are, or we're outside...then the amp's mic'd up.
2. EQ/tone...i want the added low end of it being on the floor
3. w it up on a stand or a chair, it's closer to the same height as my gtr and (fully holllow) archtops don't like amps pointed at 'em!

Don't you love it when it starts vibrating in your hands? It comes alive!!! (literally)

sometimes yes...somtimes no. single line soloing or playing melody....yeah, no biggie. but it can be a drag when comping and laying down chords (or walking a bass line w some chords).

it's funny, that big -ass 17" PEERLESS feeds back less that the little 15" Eastman I have. That EASTMAN has the thinnest top i've ever seen on an arcthtop(yeah, that's why it sounds so good...but also why it's ever at the ready to feed back!)

The PEERLESS has a soundpost under the bridge that connects the top and back and this helps a lot w the feedback. did you also happen notice there's something going on w the soundholes? can ya guess what it is i have in there? (and no it's not squirel)

Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed when I saw that picture. Looks like foam to me. Good move!!

well, no ...it ain't "foam". i traced the outlines of the "F" holes and cut up a pair of flip flops w an X-acto knife to just slightly bigger....WORKS GREAT!

i had briefly considered using some goofy off the wall color but decided that would be dissing that gtr!

Hah!!! That's wild, man. Whatever works for ya, go for it.
Back in the day, the rock guys used tape and foam and whatever..............

oh...JAZZ GUYS TOO!!!! tape didn't look to horrible, tho i don't imagine it was very kind to a gtrs finish if you ever tried to remove it. (the kinds of tape avail back then) and i remember seeing some pretty goofy foam fill ins w the foam hanging an inch or more out of the "F" holes!
