That was spectacular. All those players yet it didn't sound cluttered and everyone seemed to be having a grand time. I wonder how much rehearsal and setup time they had?

What a place to recruit! 8)

Give me a break Jook. It's a pain in the neck to get two drummers playing together let alone hundreds. This was a damn fine job.

And you know guitar players usually overplay but these guys were pretty controlled. We can nitpick it - or we can enjoy the work these folks did and think, 'hmmm, how can I do something that cool?'

I also have no use for this. I don't enjoy it. It seems to be quite fake.

You're right - some of the players are not hooked up to the main sound - specially bass, I think, as that would get real muddy fast.
But a lot of the drummers are in fact in synch - look at the long shots. When they do close-ups of the drummers, the editing wasn't very tight to the music.
When they do closeups of the girls singing they seem to be accurate. You can see on closeups of guys together on guitar, that some are just enjoying themselves and not really playing along.

It wasn't done to 'break records' (like this one: http://globalnews.ca/news/1306963/new-r ... s-hey-joe/ ) but to show spirit of harmony - Shmed did you listen all the way through and listen to the speech by the guy at the end?

Gag. I made it about one third through. Bowie's Ziggy Stardust era is very special to me. I don't want to let these slick posers ruin it for me by making it sound like a shampoo commercial.

Tried to watch it--got thru about the first 30 seconds (and I don't share the opprobrium (how often can you use that in a sentence?) some apparently have), but then I noticed CPU utilization went to 99 percent and any free memory was swallowed up--locking up my little laptop. Shut down Firefox, tried it again, got the same result. Have been noticing this kinda thing on Youtube on certain vids. Anyone else experience that? Methinks Google is running code in the background, snoopin' all over my machine...

Still, I thought this kinda thing would be fun to do.
