You know it's time to empty the gig bag when you have song lists from the '80s.

my gig bag problem is having the right stuff in it for the particular gig i'm playing...as in being instrument specific. so i'm constantly having to make adjustments and it is a cause of some (albeit minor) stress when heading to the gig. ("do i have everything i need?" " oh sh*t, i'm playing a bluegrass gig and i have my vibes mallets...but no picks or strap for my mando!!!")

I've never used a gig bag! Back in the old days, My Bandmaster head (old big reverb style) had openings in the back and I could stuff a couple of stomp boxes and cables in there. More recently, I've used a milk crate (or two), which doubles as an amp stand. For running open mics I have a rolling storage box.

I don't gig, but the Red plastic tool box from Ace Hardware always goes with me to practice. Just weighed it 32 lbs!
I think I need to assess if I really need all those pedals in there. I can think of at least one I don't use.
