Listening now. Sounds great, performance wise. Mix is way too over to left channel, though. Could use some treble from the guitar over in the right corner, since the guitar is a little too bassy (or dull to my ears).
Yup, next song comes on (Goin To The Fair) and it confirms it's not my lousy hearing.

Right side guitar is still gone. Bass is way too low. Mixing with headphones can give you a real bad 'view' of the sound - burn CDs and go listen to them in your car to hear how the mix translates to a typical playback system.
Oh yeah, heard the Stray Cat stuff there.

I was listening on the laptop with Sennheiser headphones with flat eq. I guaged it against the next song, which was balanced much better and sounded much brighter. I'll see if I can try the flat eq thing while mixing and mastering, but it's not likely.

Oh, if you recorded the bass on the same track as the guitar - you're screwed! They did stuff like they did in the past, because that's all they had to work with. But listen to how George Martin recorded the Beatles 'live' He got the 2 mics positioned right, levels balanced.
On the PIoneer - big honking floor speakers? They're set up to accent the low end and high end (typical home stereo use), so flat EQ is not necessarily the answer. I use a 'frowny face' on my stereo's EQ.
I'm monitoring on JBLs which are fairly flat and I have learned how they sound as to low-mid-high balance.

You know very well that clean guitar can have adequate bass to keep a track sounding sufficient in the low end department (when done right).

I've got a mid-80s Fisher stereo, the floor speakers are 3-way, 12" woofer, 5" mid + tweeter. With a few exceptions, home stereo speakers have always accented the lows and highs. I worked for Tech Hifi (New England area home stereo systems) for a while after graduating college, and learned all the tricks. Generally people didn't like the 'flat' speakers' sound unless they listened to a lot of orchestra music.
