Re: Obscure Rock Bands

I saw two bands on a bill at a radio station fest in 93 (we went to see 311).
One was a Ministry kind of thing called Mona Lisa Overdrive. I got their (only) CD and loved it, despite being only 32 minutes long. I found out later that the leader of the band was a longtime Zappa sideman. They disappeared into obscurity.
Also on the bill, the Supreme Love Gods. They put on an incredibly funky set. I got their (only) CD and loved it. They played between grunge and disco. Extremely intelligent lyrics and arrangements. Never to be heard from again.
Coincidentally, on the same bill, I was introduced to Sky Cries Mary. Not mainstream, but pretty obscure. They had many albums and tours and have reunited several times. I can put them on the back burner for a while, then I put them on and their hippie music just carries me off into some kind of black light poster or something.....
