I was never a big Airplane fan, but Paul and Jorma's work with the JA and Hot Tuna was influential. Might add 'Eskimo Blue Day' back into my song list, used to do it years ago. The JA version on the Woodstock 2 album was great.

Their hardest punching song to my taste was "Two Heads" but I don't think Kanter played on that. Hate to see it all winding down.

I've probably done Kanter an injustice all these years, I've liked him least of the band because he reminded me of the smarmy new left types that abounded in those days. So I sort of blamed him for dragging them into that political quaqmire. Don't know if that's true.

Surrealistic Pillow was a classic for sure, Bathing at Baxters, Crown of Creation and even Volunteers but after that well, something seemed to go wrong. Could just be me.

But there is no doubt that Kanter was a major player in one of my all time favorite bands. RIP

I've read that having Jack in the band influenced Grace to join because he was such a real deal player. And that he was and is.
