The drums/percussion need a lot more volume. I 'd guess you need to 'scoop' and high pass the EQ on the guitars to give the drums and bass some room in the mix. Some crazy guitar playing there!

We have another track coming up as soon as Mark adds some more to the mix.
Then it's my turn before the final mix (if there is room for anything else).
I'm sure Mark or I will post it when it's finished.

Great job, guys! :D

(If you haven't figured that one out by now).

If I bring the percussion up it gets WAY to crazy to listen to. The bass is keeping time on this number. The percussion is playing a groove but it is dragggggggggging along and actually sounds 'free' during the song. The kick drum would really muddle up the mix so bad you wouldn't be able to keep up w/ the bass. If you notice towards the end of the song, the percussion gets a little more busy and the crazy factor almost gets out of hand because it sounds like the whole song is falling apart but it ends nicely.

Thanks for the compliment!! I like crazy guitar! :D

He Shoots!...He SCORES!!! cool trk, lads.

just a few seconds in, i was thinking "what's with drummer?" aha! and then i realized it's because the bass and gtrs are so authoritatively laying down "time"...and the initial recording of the drums....well, they weren't played in strict "drum time".

interesting choice you made, jook... to go w a straight feel against that freer feel, but i think i would have gone more predictable and tried to match the free looser drum hits as best as i could.

diffint stringos for diffint dingos! VIVA las de France!

yeah...i get that. all's i'm saying is that approach kinda leaves the drums/ the drummer hanging out there by a twig off the side of a cliff in gusting wind and getting pelted w golfball sized hale .

so, the drummer laid down a trk that's pretty clearly free time...and then you laid something pre recorded over it....something that was played in strict "drum time"?

.....yeah, ya know.....i gotta say that to my ears and sensibilities....that kinda makes it sounds like the drummer ain't playing $hit, and can't PLAY for $hit. glad that wasn't ME playing those drums and ya did that, cos we'd have to talk about some things!

and that's esp exacerbated....when you have the drums so low in the mix. ( yes, i understand you did that so the downbeats could speak and so it wasn't total gibberish w the two different time feels)

tell ya what....i'd be more interested in hearing you play something WITH the drum trk that lined up WITH it.
i don't think there's any need to be creative messing w shifting time schemes and such devices...to be creative.

from what little i heard of that drum trk...it sounds pretty damn cool and i think it deserves something played WITH IT instead of grafted on to it. yikes..that sounds kinda Harsh, don't it?!! sorry about that.

not perfect, but by kilometers far more desirable than passing gas on his stool.

also..... more desirable that passing out INTO his stool.
